The program will offer music in its many forms, featuring some of the finest Canadian performing artists available, in an almost con- tinuous presentation of varied musical productions over a six-week period from July 3rd to August 14th. "We are confident that the chemistry exists among all of the people involved with Stratford Summer Music this year to present our most successful season yet," Mr. Wilson said. "The artistic achievements of our first two seasons will be matched, but this year, we are com- mitted, too, to laying the groundwork for a solid finan- cla1 future," Mr. Wilson add- ed. Stratford Summer Music's Artistic Director, Boris - Brott unveiled programming plans that will',span the full musical spectral'. The open- ing performance on Sunday, July 3 will be a presentation of "Brahms Requiem" featuring London - Pro Musica, the Stratford Con- cert Choir, and the Kitchener -Waterloo Sym- phonic Chorus, all under the direction of Stratford Sum- mer Music • Conductor Howard Dyck. Later in the month, "Secrets of Suzanne" will of- fer opera with an unusual twist: an introduction by Canada's own Charlie Far7 quaharson; whose alter ego; Don Harron, appears later in the production in the role of the mute: "Secrets of Suzanne" will be directed by noted Canadian stage direc- tor, Heiner Pillar. Soprano Riki Turofsky will. star in several presentations of Kurt Weill's "Seven Dead- ly Sins", to be conducted by Boris. Brott, and directed by Richard Ouzounian, Manitoba Theatre Centre's Artistic Director. Ann Dit- chburn will choreograph the production. Other artists scheduled to apear in the 1983 Stratford Summer Music festival in- clude pianist Elyakim Taussig who founded the festival three years ago; mezzo Catherine Robbin; baritone Gary Relyea; tenor Mark DuBois; soprano Mary Lou Fallis; pianist Kathryn Root; and popular children's performers Sharon, Lois and Bram, The Travellers, and Eric Nagler. "More Than Just Desserts" is a three-part series featuring The Orford Quartet with special guest, Ofra Harnoy.
