Colborne Township Hall to
celebrate the 35th Anniver-
ary of ,Tiger Dunlop
Women's Institute.
Receiving the `Members
and guests were Mrs.
Richard Buchanan, presi-
dent; Mrs. A. Stoll,
secretary;• and Mrs, R.G.
Emerson and Mrs. E. Sher-
wood who formed the plann-
ing committee.
Mrs. Buchanan presided
for the afternoon program
welcoming all. Mrs.
Buchanan spoke of the
pleasure of being able to
celebrate this special an-
niversary and thanked all
for joiningrwith the group for
the festivities.
Mrs, P. Chandler, Presi-
dent Huron West District
brought greetings.
The program . was in-
teresting and varied and
consisted of a humorous
reading by Mrs. R. Brock;
seven students from Col-
borne Central School, Kay
Edward, Brad Milburn,
Rhonda Teal, David Duncan,
Robin Wark, Lori Millian
and Steven Millian who sang
three choral numbers with
their music director Mrs.
.Laurie Little as accom-
panist; a musical duet py
Steven Millian, on the elec-
tric guitar; and a piano solo
by Lori Millian.
Mrs. E. Bogie read two ap-
propriate poems. Mrs. Helen
Wilhelm sang two solos' ac-
companied by Mrs. Adelaide
Feagan. Mrs. S. Snyder gave
some of the highlights during
her term as president.
A musical duet of several
dance selections by Mrs.
Bonnie Dunn on the clarinet
and Mrs. Hillie Kloeze with
the accordion brought a
response of toe tapping and
smiles.
Mrs. J. Horton then gave a
very interesting report of the
highlights of the first 18
years history of Tiger
Dunlop W.I. commencing
with when Mrs. Tait (Jean)
Clark and. Mrs. Ila Bean,
Mrs. Ann Montgomery and
Mrs. Vi Beans°g-athher-ed at the
home of Mrs. Clark, 'they
started the Tiger Dunlop •
W J. with Mrs. Clark as
president and Mrs. Ila Bean
as first secretary. •
It wasn't long before the
membership increased and
more were interested in In-
stitute work with the motto
"For Home and Country".
They met in the homes for a
short while and then started

to work on decorating a.'
room in Colborne Township
for their meetings.
At the end of 18 years
T'i'ger Dunlop W.I. had an ac-
tive membership doing
many thinR to increase
their funds and keep- the
members interested.
Mrs. G. Kaitting remarked
on the Institute, the friend-
ships made, the sponsoring
of 4-1-1 work, and the activity
in the community.
She said it speaks well for
the Founder, Mrs. Tait
(Jean) Clark and the charter
members. She challenged
the younger women in the
community to help in this
work.
At this time a framed pic-
ture of Mrs. Tait (Jean Gor-
don) Clark with scroll
designed by Mrs. Jean Prest
was unveiled by a daughter-
in-law, Mrs. John (June)
Clark, assisted by Mrs. G.
Kaitting.
Mrs. 0. Falkiner had com-
piled an interesting report of
the remaining years of the
Institute but due to a mishap
was unable to be present.
Mrs. E. Sherwood read her
report which showed the in-
terest is still keen.
The Past Presidents were
introduced: Mrs. Stanley
Snyder, Mrs.. Richard
Buchanan, Mrs. Ralph
Jewell, Mrs. Elmer Hunter,
Mrs. Eric Reaburn, Mrs.
Earl Sherwood. Each
responded with a highlight of
when she was serving as
president.. Mrs. Terence
Hunter, past President, due
to illness, was unable to be
present.

Softball
Registration for softball in
Colborne Township has been
very encouraging but more
teenagers ages 14-17 are
needed to form Bantam boys
and Midget .boys teams. If
you would like to play soft-
ball this season in this group
please phone Gordon Riley,
Dungannon, 529-7943 by
April 23rd so teams can be
formed.

Cottagers at Bogie's
Beach may be interested to
learn that Bill Saunders of
Stratford who has had a cot-
tage at: Bogie's Beach and
spent the summer there for
many years passed away
two week s ago.
Members, of Tiger Dunlop
W.I. will note the Annual
meeting will be Thursday,
April 28 with a potluck lun-
cheon at 12:30 noon. Special
guest will be Mrs. P.
Chandler, President of the
District who will install the
officers for 1983-84.

Mr. and Mrs. R.G. Arm-
strong of Ridgewood Park
have sold their home to Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Allen of
London who have taken
possession. We welcome
them to Colborne Twp. Mr.
and Mrs. Armstrong have
New member speaks
. One of the Goderich
Rotary Club's newest
members, Gord Ferris gave
a talk to members on Tues-
day, April 19.
Gordon joined the Air
Force during the 2nd W.W.
After this he worked at the
Guelph Reformatory.
He joined the O.P.P. in
1951 and was first stationed
at Seaforth. He transferred
to Wiarton in 1956. Gord
moved to Goderich in 1963
and retired in 1975. At this
time; Gord was appointed
Justice of the Peace, a posi-
tion he still holds.
Gord was thanked by Jim
Baird for his interesting
talk.
Norman Pickell announc-
ed that the first symphony
concert for the season held
last Saturday night at North
St. Church was a great suc-
cess.
The Chinese auction prize
was won by Tom Jasper.
It was announced that the
club would proceed with a
lawn sale in Courthouse
Park July 30 under the chair-
manship of Ray Morley.
Vice-president Craig Cass
reported on the Zone Con-
ference held in Port Huron
last weekend.
