E1AllT1' GII,LBERT Mra Edith Culbert of 27.1 Gi bons Street, -Godes gh died at Alexandra Mahone and General Hospital in Goderich on Friday, April 8. She was9.1. Mrs. Culbert was born in Ashfield Township on Sep - tenter 15, 1891 to George Washington and Rose (Correll) Fielder. On March 8, 1916 she married Henry Culbert in Goderich. The couple lived in Saskatoon until 1940 when they returned to Ashfield Township. Mrs.Culbert was. a member .of Knox Presbyterian Church. • She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Victor (Grace) Black, Mrs. Nor- man (Enna) Hoy and Mrs. Jack (Doris) Fritzley all of Goderich and Mrs. Gordon ( Ferne) Baun of Stratford; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Mrs. Culbert was predeceased by her husband on May 7, 1979; one son, William Ernest; two brothers; and three sisters. A funeral was held on Monday, April -1l at 2 p.m. at Stiles Funeral Horne in Goderich with the. Rev. John D.M. Wood officiating. Interment was in Dungannon Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mrs. Culbert's grandsons Gary and. Ron Hoy, Dale Fritzley, 1A wrence, Bryon and Paul Black and Mark Baun. GOLDWIN SMITH A Goderich Township native, Goldwin (Goldie) Smith died in Clinton Public Hospital on April 12. He was 72 years old. The Bayfield resident was born .in neighboring Goderich Township on April 27, 1910. He was the son of John and Susanna Smith. He lived in the Clinton area before moving to Bayfield where he resided at the Glan QBITUARLES Gregor Apartments. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, the former Marjory Helen Hunter. He is also survived by two daughters Beverlie Chowen of RR 3, Clinton and Janet Fisher of Goderich and six grand- children. He was predeceased by two brothers Garnet and Donald, and a sister Beth. Funeral services were heId on April 14 from the Ball and Falconer Funeral Home in Clinton. Rev. Gordon Reynolds officiated and interment followed in the Clinton Cemetery. ' Pallbearers included Barry Young, Loni Fisher, Gary Prouse, Don Hunter, Larry Mitchell. and Gerald Morrison. Flower bearers were Charlie Merrill, Graydon Neal and Louis Johnston. EVA MCDOUGALL Rev. James Bechtel conducted funeral services -on April 13 from the Beattie Funeral Home in Clinton for Eva McDougall. ' The 86 -year-old Holmesville resident died in Clinton Public Hospital on April 11. Born on July 12, 1896 to James and Annie Walker, in Clinton, Mrs. McDougall was a ll'fetimearea resident. In 1921, in Seaforth, she married Murray McDougall and the couple farfned in Goderich Township until 1965 when • they moved to Holmesv ille. Mrs. McDougall was a member of the Goderich Rebekah I,odge89. Along with her husband, she is survived by one daughter Mrs. Richard (June) Porter of ' RR 2, Goderich. She is also sur- vived by four grandchildren, Dwight, Renada, Darwin and Beverley of Fort McMtitrray, Alberta. As well, Mrs. McDougall is survived by several first cousins from Lethbridge, Alberta;, Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Kitchener. Following the April 13 funeral, interment took place at the Clinton Cemetery: MRS. ALICE ARBOUR Mrs. Alice Arbour- of Goderich died Tuesday, April 12 at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital. She was born in Goderich to the late Arthur and Margretta (Crane) Kaitting. She was married to Harold G.Arbour who predeceased her on December 18, 1973. She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church. Mrs: Arbour is survived by one . daughter, Mrs. John ( Gre-tta) McConnell, Burlington; one son, Lionel, Goderich; one brother, Gordon Kaitting, Colborne Township; and six grand- sons, Kim, Lee and Steven Arbour and Martin, Robert and David McConnell; and one great grandson, Damien Arbour. Funeral service was Thursday, April 14 at the McCallum Funeral Home with the Rev. G.L.Royal officiating. • Pallbearers were Kim' Arbour, Steven Arbour, Martin McConnell, Robert McConnell, David McCon- nell and Edward Kaitting. Burial was in Maitland Cemetery. MRS. TERESA -- CAMPBELL Mrs. Teresa Campbell, 183 East Street, Goderich, died Apri112 at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital. She, was 9. She was:horn in Eifrida the *ate 4i red and, Sarah Catherine (Swaye) Nicholson, She lived • in Elfrida until the. family moved to:Bartonville in 1892, then to Stoney Creek in 1904. She was married June 11, 1913 in Stoney Creek to James A, Campbell, Phm. B., and moved, with her husband to Goderich •im- mediately following her marriage. Mr. Campbell predeceased her on April 26, 1958. She -was a member of First Baptist Church in Goderich. She is survived by one daughter, Beatrice Mar- tindale, Goderich; two sons, Albert (Bert) Campbell of Windsor and Malcolm (Mac) Campbell of Goderich; one daughter-in-law ..Roslyn, Goderich; three grand- daughters, Jennifer, Joanne and Julie Campbell; and one sister, Mrs. Henry (Beatrice) Warden, Stoney Creek. • She was predeceased by one son, Donald in 1951 and by one sister, Myrtle Murphy and one brother, Lorne Nicholson. - Funeral service • was Thursday, April 14 at Stiles Funeral Home with the Rev. OKE Seaforth postmaster for 19 years, Orville Garfield Oke died Wed., Apr. 13, 1983 in University Hospital, London. He was 68. Born in Goderich, he was the • son of the late Charles Oke and the former Ann Blake,, and grew up on the family dairy farm in Goderich township. Mr. Oke, who retired as postmaster in Dec. 1979, served overseas with the • Loyal Ordinance Corps, as an electrician, He was wounded and invalided home to Westminster. Hospital nr71. London, Moving, to Seaforth:. idly 1947, he bought the Royal' Apartment block in 1949, in partnership with brother t in-law, and operated! Oke's' Billiard and Tobacco Shop there. He is survived by his wife, the former Wilma Rowcliffe, and two daughters, Elaine, Mrs. Raymond Baker, of London and Mary, Mrs. Mit- chell Moore, of Burlington. Three granddaughters, Alanna and Adrienne Baker and Kristin Moore also sur- vive, as does a brother, Graeme, of Comber. The late Mr. Oke was predeceas- ed by two sisters, Jessie, Mrs. Allan Walker and Ella, Mrs. George Feagan and five brothers, Wilson, Albert, Irvine, Ira and Stuart. The late Mr. Oke was a member of the Seaforth Lions Club, serving as presi- dent in 1967 and 1968 and was district governor of the club. in 1971 and 1972, 15e was a member of., Britannia Maasonic{19e past 17Q0i r and p� a AM and ins' master. As well, he was grl superintendent o • the Royal. Arch Masons, Huron District; a member of St. Elnno Preceptory, Stratford; the Mocha Temple Shrine, London and the Bluewater Shrine Club. Mr. Oke was a director of the Ontario Socie- ty for Crippled Children. He was a member of Northside United Church and of the Seaforth branch of the Royal Canadian. Legion. Friends were received at the Whitney Ribey Funeral Home, Seaforth, where the Lions, Britannia Lodge and the Legion each held memorial services on Fri- day night. Largely attended funeral services Saturday at 2 p.m. were conducted by his minister, Rev. J.J. Vanslyke. Cremation follow- ed, As expressions of sym- pathy, donations may be made to the Seaforth Lions Park and Pool fund.
