Green Machine defeated in three games
Ultramar team wins cham
After an intense and closely played
round-robin series, Green Machine and
Ultramar advanced to meet in the
championship series in Goderich
Recreation Hockey League play.
The opening game of the best -of -three
series was played Monday, March 28 and it
indicated that the series would be a hotly
contested affair. With just over one minute
remaining: in ,regulation .time, Graham
Hamilton scored to give Ultramar a 4-3
victory and a one -game lead in the final
series.
The second game of the series was
played Wednesday and Green Machine
forced a third and deciding game es they
defeated Ultramar 5-2. Bruce Melick and
Dave Graf scored two goals apiece for
Green Machine in a winning effort and Bill
Lewis chipped in with one goal.
In .the third and deciding game,
Ultramar came out flying in the final
period scoring four goals and defeating
Green Machine 8-5 in the final to win the
Goderich Recreation Hockey League
. championship for 1982-83.
