The Goderich Machin st Atoms are up
by one game in their best -of -five OMHA
semi-final series against Mooretown.
After winning their first game 6-5 in
Mooretown on Saturday, March 12, the
, local Atoms lost 9-2 at home last Thursday
evening and then came back to win.10-7 in
overtime Friday evening. The next game
will be played Thursday evening in -
Mooretown. If the local Atoms win this
game, they will advance to the OMHA
finals.
On Sunday, the Machinists lost their
second game of the Brussels Optimist
Atom Tournament against Dresden 7-5
thus eliminating them from further play in
this tournament. •
In , Thursday evening's game,
Mooretown opened the scoring at the 4:31
mark of the first period. No goals were
then scored until the first minute of the
third period when Tim Harrison, on an
assist from Jeff Hodges, tied things up for
Goderich. However, Mooretown came
back with three in a row while Goderich
was only able to muster one more, again
scored by Harrison assisted this time by
Goderich Brid.ge;Ciub scores

Friday evening's high scoring gan)e was
played i!n the :Bayfield arena (� kratte rcl
had won the flip for home ice but it' was
being used for -young Canada Week, thus
the move to Hayfield.)
Chris O'Neill opened the scoring for
Godericli about four minutes into the first
period with an assist from Harrison.
Mooretown carfie back witl two1and then
Goderich scored three more to end the first
period 5-2. Theseswere scored by O'Neill
assisted by Harrison and two by Harrison
assisted by O'Neill.
Mooretown scored three straight goals
in the second period to even the score and
then went ahead by one goal at the
beginning of the third period. Goderich
came back with three goals to go ahead
once more. These were scored by Andre
Cauchi assisted by Jason Pearson, Shawn
Talbot assisted by Cauchi and Lane, and
O'Neill assisted by Hodges.
With just a little, more than a minute
remaining in the game, Mooretown scored
an unassisted goal to tie things up and
force it into a ten minute. period of over -
• Hine. During this period, O'Neill scored
t• hree goals. for Goderich to win the game,
twice assisted by Richard Bowman and
once unassisted.
The game against Dresden in the
Brussels tournament was a disap-
pointment. as it was felt that the local
Atoms could have handily won the
Championship in this tournament.
Goal Scorers for Goderich were O'Neill
and Harrison: with two each and Hodges
with one. Hodges' also got two assists and
Bowman got one.
