Egg prices
up one cent
Egg prices will go up by
one cent per dozen for Grade
A large in March, due large-
ly to higher feed costs, the
Canadian Egg Marketing
Agency (CEMA) announced
recently.
An increase in the conver-
sion rate to Grade A large
also contributed to the one -
cent boost, said CEMA
General Manager Jean
Brassard.
The conversion rate is the
difference in price between
the average Grade A large
price s' et by CEMA and the
average price the 'farmer
receives for all grades of,
eggs.
"Even with the increase
this month, eggs still repre-
sent one of the best food
values available to the con-
sumer today. Egg prices are
now just one cent higher
than they were at this time
last year," said Brassard.
