Amberley; and two granddaughteigs, Lea and Brenda
Wilson of London.
He was predeceased by
one sister, Vera- and, one
brother, Harvey. •
A funeral service was held,
at McCallum Funeral Home
in Goderich on Thursday,
,March 10 at 2 p.m. The
Reverend G.L. Royal of
Knox Presbyterian Church
officiated.
Interment was in Greenhill
Cemetery, Lucknow.
Pallbearers were Jim
Nelson, Tim Reurink, John
Kuik, Marvin Scott, Gordon
Robb and Worthy Young.
Flower bearers were Allan
Robb, Don Farrish, George
Adams and Grant Farrish.,

merly of Guelph, died in.
University Hospital, London
on Friday, March 11 at the
age of 57.
She was born in Goderich
on October 1, • 1925 to
-Reginald and Janie (Yuill)
Sturdy.
She worked as a legal
secretary for Troyan and
Fincher in Godelich. •
She was predeceased by
her husband, -Gerald Cutler

Clinton buildings to be restored
CLINTON - The Clinton
Town Hall and Public
Library, two of the town's
oldest buildings, in danger of
being vacated and closed,
will receive new life thanks
to the announcement of two
Wintario Capital grants. The
Honourable Bruce ,McCaf-
frey, Minister of Citizenship
and Culture today annpunc-
ect the grants totalling
$318,312.
The two historical in-
stitutions will be salvaged
and restored so they can con-
tinue to play a significant
role in the everyday life of
CIVIC CORNER
The Airport Committee
will meet Wednesday, March
16 at 7.30 p.M. in the town
hall.
The Huron County Plan-
ning and Development
Committee • will meet
Thursday, March 17 at 10:30
a.m. in the council. cham-
bers, Cond. HoAise, Goderich.
The Tourist CommiFpe

will meet Thursday, March
17 at 7:30 p.m. in the town
The GOderich Economic
Development Committee
will meet Monday, March 21
at noon in the town hall.
The Planning Board will
meet Wednesday, March 23
at noon in the town hall.

1880, is a dominant public
building located in the centre •
of town and until recently
has accommodated civic of-
fices and the police station.
Funds from the grant will '
facilitate the restoration of.„,
the budding which was being
vacated becafise of struc-
tural decline that developed
over the years.
The exterior of the Clinton
Public Library will be
renovated while the interior
will be upgraded to tirovide
improved library facilities.
An exterior ramp will also be
built to allow ground floor
access by aged and han-
dicapped patrons.

Hospital on Monday, March

She is survived by her

Reg of Saskatchewan. She
was predeceased by Lloyd of
Forest and Ken of Goderich.
A funeral service will be
held at Needham Funeral
Home in Petrolia on Thur-
sday, March 17 at 2 p.iTi.

Pearl Cummings, 66, of
Clinton was killed on. March
10 in a four -vehicle accident
on Highway 4, east of
Hohnesville.
The Goderich OPP
reported that Mrs. Cumm-
ings was driving a west-
bound car.; It met head-on
with an eastbound pickup
truck driven by John Burley,
29, of Clinton.
Two other' westbound
vehicles werealsc involved
in the accident. A car driven
by Cheryl Campbell, 19, of
Seaforth and a pickup truck
driven by Robert Mc-
Cullough, 29, of Goderich
were also struck. •
,A passenger in the Cumm-
ings Vehicle, Helen
Sootheran, 59, of Clinton
received major injuries.

She was born on December
5, 1916 in Tuckersmith
Township to Jonathan Hugill
and the former Gertrude
Crich. Raised in
Tuckersmith, she received
her education at the Seaforth
high sehooland the Clinton
Commercial College.
- On November 24, -1940 she
married Francis Joseph
(Frank) Cummings • ,in
Goderich and the couple
made their home in Clinton.
They raised a family of four
sons, Ken .of Laval, Quebec,
Harry of Guelph and Gary of
Stratford, and the late Roger.

Mrs. Cummings was a
devoted .community worker
and took an active part in
many clubs and projects.
She was a member of the
Wesley Willis United Church
Women, the. Clinton Senior
• Citizens Club, the. Wonien's
Institute, the • Clintonian
Club, the Clinton Hor-
ticultural Society, and
helped to organize the Crich
and Hugili family reunions.
Along with her husbands
and three sons, Mrs., Cumm-
ings is survived by two
sisters Mrs. Arnold (Verna)
Rathwell of Port Elgin, Mrs.
Gordon (Mary) Horner of
Kitchener and five brothers,
Arnold, Clifford and
Clarence, all of Goderich,
Ebner of Clinton and Wesley
of Kitchener. Also surviving
are seven geandchildren,
Funeral services were
held at the B011 and Falconer
Funeral Horne in Clinton on
March 14, Rev, James
Bechtel of Wesley Willis
church officiated and inter-
ment followed at the Clinton
Cemetery.
Pallbearers included her "
sons Harry, Gary and Ken
Cummings, Bill ftlehl,
Reindeer Mic:lel and
Charles Wallis all of Clinton.
