holds
meeting

The annual meeting of the
Maple Leaf 'Chapter IODE
was held at the home of Mrs.
KG. Hays.
Secretary, Mrs. C;Knight
read the annual report for
1982.
The Chapter completed
• the year with 72 members on
the roll. Three new members
were welcomed during the.
year. Nine regular meetings
were held with an average
attendance of 30 members.
The table model flags were
on display at all meetings.
The Chapter supported
various projects in the com-
munity, including Town and
• Country Homemakers, The
Lady Diana Nursery School,
The Livery Theatre, Family
and Children's Services and
the Goderich Ringette
teams.
The Education Commit-
tee, under the guidance of
Mrs. G. Hunter, was once
again active. Two bursaries
valued at $200 each were
awarded to two post-
secondary school students.
• History and Proficiency
prizes were • awarded to
Grade 8, 9 and 10 students.
Symphony tickets were pur-
chased for the local high
school. Art and school sup-
plies, magazine
subscriptions and educa-
tional games: were forward-
edto the Adopt -A -Class in
Labrador. Grades`O and 6-7
classes at St. Mary's School
have been linked up with
students in Port Cisuitlam
and Burnaby, B.C. knd Ox-
ford, N.S. throbgh theMail
Box Canada project.
Mrs. F. Sandy, SerVices
Secretary and committee
organized and sent a bale to
headquarters for distribu-
tion, consisting of sewn
layettes, knitted articles,
purchased items and
nursery bags.
The phapter renewed its
sponsorship of its adopted
Korean child, and con-
tributed to the various Na-
tional and Provincial IODE
funds.
• Citizenship duties were
carried out by Citizenship
Secretary, Mrs. G.
McManus. In April she ar-
ranged a party for members,
to celebrate the patriation of
the Canadian Constitution.
In September under Mrs.
McManus' guidance a
babysitting course was held
for students attending
grades seven and eight.
On Remembrance Day a
wreath was laid by Regent
Mrs. W. J. McIntyre at the
Cenotaph service.
The Red Cross Campaign
for Goderich was organized
by Mrs. Apieen Curry. The
canvass ,took place during
the month of May.
To support all the Chapter
contributions, money "was
raised by operating the Op-
portunity Shop on East
Street, convened by Mrs. R.
McDonald. Under the direc-
tion of Ways and Means con-
vener, Mrs. C. Boddy, a
garage and bake sale was
held and Cranberry Beans
and an All Occasion Cook.
Book were sold.

the following executive for
