Jim Horne's Singing
Telegrams celebrates its
fourth anniversary in
February with the addition
of personalized delivery sets
vice anywhere in Southern
Ontario for the same flat
rate as London. Later in the
month this service may be
extended to Eastern Canada.
In his first four years of
business, Horne has had
more than 1000 clients and
has written over 20,000 lines
of rhyming lyrics.
Horne estimates that per-
forming his entire output
would take longer than an
oral reading of James
Joyce's Ulysses.
Close to 100 percent of the
lyrics are composed ex-
clusively from information
provided by the senders of
the telegram.'
"Many people don't
realize just how personal
this service is. There is no
one else who offers door-to-
door service as cheaply and
creatively as I do."
Horne hasdelivered
telegrams in person as far
away as Blenheim, Sarnia,
Guelph and Ottawa. He has
phoned greetings to
Scotland, California, Florida
and The West Indies.
Horne is completing a
Bachelor of Education at
The University of Western
Ontario and keeps his vocal
skills sharp as a member of
London Pro Musica, winner
of the CBC National Choral
Competition. He is also
organist at Dorchester
Presbyterian Church.

called "outrageous" by one
board member. The teachers
asked the board to increase
