Itsoo 'w 100 N113 campaign realizes over X2,000 Dear Editor, The C.N.I,H. calnpaign fol this areawas again sum awful with $2009.50 realiz. ed, Volunteers who canvassed in Ashfield Township, Dungannon, West Wawanosh Township were: northern half of West Wawatwsh, cap- tained by Mrs. Harold Gaunt and canvassed by StHelen's Women's Institute realized $240,50. Canvassers were: Mrs. B. Aitcheson, Mrs. C. Aitcheson, Mrs. P. Chandler, Mrs. Harold Cooper, Mrs. Ross Errington, Mrs. I. Gaunt, Mts. B. Tyler and Mrs. Harold Gaunt. Southern half of West Wawanosh, captained by Mrs, Cyril Boy a and can- vassed by members of St. Augustine's OWL realized $293. Canvassers were Mrs. rtaymond Boyle, Miss Phyliss Hickey, Mrs. William Kinahan and Mrs. "Bully for you, Jo!" Dear Editor, Is the Conservative Party divided? Was it divided dur- ing the era of Diefenbaker? He also had a similar con- dition to 'deal with, but wasn't successful in bringing these gutless wonders out from under their rocks. These individuals have opi- nions, but are afraid to make them known publicly. Some of them take refuge behind women's skirts, and others hide under a rock•of secrecy. I believe that Joe Clark has pulled out all stops in order to bring about com- plete unity within the Con- servation Party. His actions can be ,classified as that of a vacuum cleaner' cleaning out the dirt in hidden crevasses, and I say "Bully for you, Joe!.' In every situation of life we always have the fence sit- ters, who always sit on the fence, afraid to commit themselves. It reminds me of the old story of the war between the animals - the birds and the beasts. The bat couldn't decide which side he was on, so he had to fly dur- ing the night because the birds didn't want to see him' during the day, and neither did the beasts. Sincerely, N.J. Minaker, Goderich. Paragraphs important Dear Editor, In my letter in your issue of February 2 regarding that "long hard look', in the ex- ercise of your perogative as editor, you edited out the most' important reason for that "look". The paragraphs `edited out' follow. In 19522 a group of "Chris- tians" revised the American Standard version, which they state "was a revision of the King James version, published in 1611." ( Preface, page iii RSV) That Preface states, on page v: "the use of any proper name for the One and Only God, as though there were other gods from whom He had to be distinguished, was discon- tinued in Judaism before the Christian era, and is entirely inappropriate for the univer- sal faith of the Christian Church." However, THE CATHOLIC EN- CYCLOPEDIA contains the following information: "JEHOVAH - the proper Cyril Hoyle. Dungannon, captained by Mrs. Terry Hodges realized $118. Can- vassers were Mrs; Mary Ann Brindley, Miss Jon Carson, Mrs. Kathy Olson, Miss Cathy Snyder, Mrs. Sharon Strong and Mrs. Terry Hodges. Ashfield Township captained by Mrs. Carl Riegling realized $1358 - in- cluding $45 - from four organizations. Canvassers were Mrs. Con Hogan, Mrs. Jerry Cranston, Mr, Wilfred Hackett, Mr. Donald Frayne, Mrs. Herb Wilkins, Mrs. Alvin Kerr, Mrs. Bert Dougherty, Mrs. Joe Boel, Miss Donna Drennan, Mr. Jack McKenzie, Mrs. George Adams, Mrs. Jim Gilmore, Mrs. Leroy Dren- nan, Mrs. Wm. Hayter, Mrs: Donald Curran, Mrs. Ralph Curran, Mrs. Larry Park, Mrs. Arnold Meader, Mrs. Stan Doherty, Mrs. Steve Corkum, Mrs. Bryan MacLennan, Mrs. Jim Sin - nett, Mrs. Art Bowler, Mrs. Larry Pentland and Miss Joanne Crawford. name of God in the Old Testament (0,000 times in round numbers) ... the ex- plicit or the separated name. JEHOVAH occurs in Genesis about 156. times. (page 329) "Modern Jews are as uncer- tain of the Sacred name as their "Christian"' contem- poraries." (page 331) ALL the facts add up to the admonition for those pro- fessing to be Christian to take that "long hard look" at themselves. Sincerely yours C.F.
