He was born June 18, 1928 in Clinton to Henry and Grace (Stewart) Pierce. After ending his active sailing career as first mate on the M.V. Pic River of the Quebec and Ontario Tran- sportation Company in 1968, Mr. Pierce remained close to the sailing trade. Knowledgeable and in- terested in the history of Great Lakes ships, he was a member of the Toronto Marine Historical Society and actively involved with the Goderich Marine Museum. At the time of his death, he was employed by -P. and IL Shipping as shipkeeper on theS.S. Spruceglen. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Marjorie Rennie of London. Pallbearers were Paul Vickers, David Vickers, Tom Ginn, Tim Sheppgrd, Alan Sheppard, and Glen Shep- pard, all grandsons of, the late Mrs. Vickers. Flower bearers were Daniel Ginn, Mark Shep- pard,and Carl Vickers also Born in Bayfield on July 11, 1909, the 73 year old Bayfield man died in Lon- don's University.:Hospital on January 15. • ., Mr. Gemeinhardt spent. his early childhood in Bayfield, moving to OriUia in his teens.
