EXETER BEATS HENSALII
On Thursday evening of last week
the Hensel" hockey team came down
and n fast game of hocleey was
played at "The Dome",' the visitors
being beaten by one :coal 0 to 5. The
first half was fast and pretty rough
and Hensel' were successful in, scar -
nisi two goals. In the secoi•,d, half
Hensall scored two more goals be
fore the Exeter boys succeeded in
getting the rubber into the visit-
or's nets. Thus the score ryas, four
nothing when Exeter scored one goal
which was quickly followed by an-
other. Ilensall scored again making
their count five. The playing was
hard and began telling on the boys
but the Exeter team got in some
good work and in rapid succession
scored three goals and when th
gong sounded the score was et tie.
Five minutes were allowed to play
off, but as neither side scored, the
teams took the ice again to play
until either side scored, Exeter
scored the luck goal thus giving
thorn the game. Mr. A,. Whitesides

Council convened at Township 'Hall
on March 2nd. All the members
were present. The minutes of the
last meeting were read and approved
After considerable discussion the
matter of purchasing a, stone crush-
er was laid over until next .neeting.
Wm. Moodie was again engagedto
manage the road grader at 11.00 per
day for work done by statute Jabot,
and 4.50 per day for work done by
contract.
A few accounts were passed and
orders issued in payment. .
The council then adjourned tomeet
April, 6th, et one o'clock. .

incidents therein related.
The reeve- and clerk were author-

in Connection with Lucan High
School, `'The Department 'of Agri-
culture now contemplated . for the
county of Middlesex
The following By-laws got a first
reading. A by-law to regulate meet
ings of council; For setting apart
Dolling sub -divisions; For perfornnan
ce of statue labor; For commuting+
statue labor; Tot •provide fore taking
road material ; Re, lawful fences; ,Re
Noxious. weeds; To reglate travel on
bridges; To regulate travel on, high-
ways and for other purposes;; To pre
vent 'throwing rubbish on highways;
to prevent vehicles running on side-
walks,; For protection of trees on
highways; To tax dogs and bitches;
To provide for sheep being killed by
unknown dogs; To prevent obstruct
ling ditches and streams; To define
duties of.colledtor of taxes; To set
apart part of streets for sidewalks;
With regard to pounds to prevent
cattle from running at large; To pre
vent vice gambling; intemperance
etc.
The council adjourned to meet ag-
