Top five scoring leaders named
On Monday, November 29,
the O'Brien's team was
lucky to hold out to beat
Sunset 10-9 in Goderich
Recreation . Hockey League
action. At one point in the
game, . O'Brien's led 8 to 1,
but Sunset never once let up
as they outscored O'Brien's 8
to 3 in the last two periods.
Leading O'Brien's of-
fensive drive was Dan
Duncan who got three goals
and two assists. For Sunset,
Wayne Rau had four goals
and added two assists.
In the second game that
night, Ultramar scored three
unanswered goals late in the
third period to sneak by
Clere Vu 8 to 7. Leading the
scoring in this game was
Danny MacDonald from
Clere-Vu who had one. goal
and four assists.
On Wednesday, December
1, Green Machine handed
Sunset their third loss in a
row. Bill Lewis had a hat
trick to lead Green Machine
in their 8-3 win over Sunset.
In Clinton on. December 2,
Hodge's made it three wins
in a row as they defeated

Henderson led Hodge's with
two goals and one assist.
Bedford Flyers scored a
convincing win over
O'Brien's by beating them
10-3 on Sunday, December 5.
Tim Doherty had three goals
and added an assist to lead
the Flyer's offensive drive.
The win places Bedford in a
tie for first place with
O'Brien's, each having 16
points..
In another game that same
evening, Ultramar made it
two in a row by defeating
Garb and Gear 9-7. Graham
Hamilton; Paul Schaefer, Al
Shelton and Mark Kernighan
all scored two goals each and
Ian McAdam added one to
give Ultramar the victory.
The top five scoring
leaders now are: Dan
Duncan of O'Brien's with 29
points; Greg Burns of Clere-
Vu with 28 points; Tag
Sowerby of Green Machine
with 27 points; Bill Lewis of
Green Machine with 24
points; and Rob Standen of
O'Brien's with 22 points.

On November 20, the YBC
bolwers had a chance to
receive their "I Beat My
Coach" crest.
To receive this crest, the
bantams had to beat a score
of 125 and the juniors and
seniors had to beat 166.
Congratulations go to the
many bowlers who received
this crest.
On December 4, one of the
bantam girls, Lora
IVIocGir.nus bowled a game
of 179 and Nadja Davidson
bowled 324 for a double:
In the bantam boys'
division. Bobby Pellow
bowled a 192 game for a high
single and Robbie Mathers
bowled 305 for his double.
The junior girls' high
single was bowled by Cathy
Miller with a score of 192 and
a 525 triple. Ian MacKinnon
bowled a tremendous game
with a score of 290. Ian also
bowled the high triple with
533 for a score.
Jim Keller was the suc-
cessful senior boy who
bowled a 201 game with a 569
triple.
Congratulations is in order
to these people, and keep up
the good work.
Goderich Chess
Club results
Chess club action resulted
in .17 matches being played
last Wednesday night. Paul
Plunket won four out of five
games to move him into
level two. Well done Paul.
Dennis Little won three
games to improve his level
one percentage. John Stokes
moved ahead of Charlie
Cook in level two with three
victories. John and Paul are
both closing the gap on level
two leader George Barwick.
The very . skillful Gad
Czudner won two games.
Charlie Cook checkmated
Mark Maurer to fail Mark's
bid -to break into level two.
Louis Stadelmann and Les
Willems are enjoying a close
game. After two and a half
hours, they sealed a move,
and adjourned their game
with the position on the
board even.
Brian Brindley' won a
game over Mike Cox to
maintain their relative stan-
ding in levels three and four.
It was good to see Mike
and Mark Maurer at the club
again to enjoy an evening of
chess.
