At the December 1 meeting, each member, who had been nominated for an office at the previous meeting, campaigned vigorously for office, assisted by another Toat- master who had been ap- pointed campaign manager. Posters, paper hats , and stickers were the order of the evening and the oratory was persuasive and at times very effective: When the tumult and the shouting had died, the following members found themselves to be the newly - elected. executive for 1983: past president, Mike Sully; president, Bill Metcalfe; educational vice-president, Rita Ross; administrative vice-president, Adrian Vos; Form new association Representatives of 73 Library Boards met recently in Toronto to found a new library association, in On- tario. • For some time the library community in Ontario has been concerned with its political voice at the Provin- cial level. Looking at the ex- amples of Association of Municipalities of Ontario (A.M.O.) and Association of Municipal Electrical Utilities (A.M.E.U.) which combine executives and politicians in a strong organization to make representation to upper levels of governments the decision to form the Associa- tion of Library Boards of On- tario (A.L.B.O.) was made. Parking fines stiffer in prohibited area Dear Editor, Thanks for the photograph of the new Handicapped Parking signs which have been erected at certain areas just off The Square. This has drawn the new signs to the attention of the public. However, the fine for dfegaliy ,Ylparking. to this lPirohibited Area" is $6 rather than 53. I draw this to the attention of citizens as one lady, who received a ticket, has men- tioned this to myself and Mr. Eisler. The two signs indicate by symbol "NO PARKING" unless you are a handicap- ped person (or are driving a handicapped person). This should be indicated by the handicapped sticker on your vehicle. These are available at the police station. ALL parking violations in Goderich, if paid voluntarily out of court, are THREE col- lars, with these exceptions: parking in a prohibited area; parking on the side of a highway opposite a school (where signed); stopping in a NO stopping area; block- ing any driveway; parking within three metres of a driveway.
