The Auburn Community
Hall Board met last
Thursday evening in the hall
with the following members.
present, chairman Reeve
Tom Cunningham, Ronald
Gross Hullett Township,
Carl Seeger, West
Wawanosh, Donald Shultz,
East Wawanosh, Ross
Robinson, Auburn - Silver
Tops, Walter Marchl Auburn
and District Lion's club,
Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock,
Auburn Women's Institute,
Warner Andrews and Jim
Schneider from the Village
of Auburn.
The minutes were ac-
cepted by secretary -
treasurer Mrs. George Col-
lins. A discussion took place
on the paving that had been
done at the front of the hall
and also on snow removal.
Warner Andrews will be in
charge of this business.
A new chimney has been
built on the hall by Bob
Worsen and some other
repairs completed. Mrs. Col-
lins reported that the LCBO
and Health inspectors had
been in the hall and stated a
few changes had to be done
as fans in the kitchen and
washrooms installed and the
Blyth Fire Chief will also in-
spect the premises for safe-
ty. Once these requirements
are completed then licences
will be available.
The Auburn Leos, Janice
Daer, Angela Schneider and
Rob Glen attended the
meeting and requested to
use the hall. Janice Daer
made the presentation and
their request was considered
by the Board. Lion Eldon
Chamney also was present
and spoke on their behalf.
The caretakers, Mrs. Ted
Clark and Mrs. Ross Dobie
were present and wanted
hours when they could clean
before events so a schedule
will have to be made up
when the key will be allowed
out before an event. Walter
Marchl asked for permission
for water to flood the open
air skating . rink again this
year. This was granted. The
annual meeting will be held
all repairs planned

on January 26th at 8 p.m.
The Auburn Booster Club
held their meeting last Tues-
day evening at the home of
Mrs. Lynn Chamney. The
members were very pleased
to report that over $400 had
been the profit from the
Christmas. Fair and Bazaar
held on November 20th. The
members would like to thank
all those who had craft
tables and those who attend-
ed to make it so successful.
Mrs. Elaine Craig and
Mrs. Lynn Chamney were
appointed to present the
money to the Huron County
Ministry of Children's Ser-
vices in Goderich.
The first meeting of the
new year will be held at the
home of Mrs. Brenda Clark
on January 11.
The Auburn Women's In-
stitute will hold their
Christmas meeting on
December 15th at 2 p.m. with
the program to be in charge
of Mrs. Emerson Rodger and
Mrs. Tom Jardin. There will
be an exchange of a
homemade $2 gifts. Please
note change of date.
Prize winners at the week-
ly euchre party held every
Tuesday evening at 8 p.m.
sharp in the Auburn Com-
munity Memorial , hall last
week were: novelty, Mrs.
Donald Haines; high lady,
George Mason; (playing as a
lady) low lady, Mrs. Dorothy
Grange; high man, Clarence
Allen and low. man, Dennis
Schneider. Everyone is
welcome.
Mrs., Kenneth McDougall
visited last week in Sudbury
with her son Allan
McDougall, Mrs. McDougall
and family.

charge. The minutes were
read by . secretary Lion
Donald Haines.
The members voted to.
send a donation of $25. to the
Heart Foundation on the mo-
tion by Lion Walter Marchl
and Lion Bill Robinson. It
was decided to canvass on
December 6 for C.N.I.B. The
decision to support the pur-
chase of the hearing tester
has been postponed until
more information is obtain-
ed from the chairman. The
selling of the Easter Bunnies
will be passed on to the Leo
Club.
Plans were made for the
New Year's dance and Lion
Walter Marchl and Lion Gor-
don Daer are to look after
the tickets. Volunteers for
the Bingo on December 10th
were requested by Lion
Walter Marchl. The Leo Club
members challenged the
Lions Club members for a
slo-pitch baseball game in
the snow on January 15 or 22
if weather is not suitable.
The guest speaker of the
evening, Rev. Bonny Smith
of Knox United Church was
introduced by Lion Gordon
Chamney. Rev. Smith spoke
of her experiences on a Mis-
sion Field church in Van-
couver and gave the
highlights of life in the skid
row districts. Lion Donald
Haines thanked Miss Smith
and presented her with a gift
of appreciation.
Lions host ladies
The Auburn and District
Lions Club held their Ladies'
Night last Wednesday even-
ing in the Auburn Communi-
ty Memorial hall with the
UCW serving dinner. Presi-
Knox United Church,
Auburn held their annual
White Gift service when the
Sunday School and their
teachers attended together.
The church organist, Mrs.
Florence Wightman and
pianist Mrs. Bernice Gross
accompanied for the singing
of the Christmas Carols.
The leader, Miss Janice
Daer opened the service.
The story presentation was
done by Mrs. Karen Webster
and several children acted
out the Christmas story of
the Birth of Christ. The offer-
ing was received by Stephen
Verbeek, Brian Wightman,
Bob Worsell and Peter
Verbeek and- dedicated by
Rev. Bonny Smith. All
children presented their
white gifts in the manger.
Regan Millian lit the second
Advent candle - the Candle of
Love.
WMS meet
The Women's Missionary
Society of the Huron Chapel
Missionary Church held its
annual Christmas banquet
last Friday evening in the
Aiurn Community
Memorial hall. It was
organized by Mrs. Gladys
Campbell, Eunice Emke and
Brenda Huizingi. Nearly 80
people attended the
smorgasbord dinner. The of-
fering was sent to help to
build a medical clinic in La -
Juana, Haiti.
The Sunday school
Christmas program is plann-
ed for Friday, December
10th at 8 p.m. Each class is
planning to contribute to its
success. They hope many
will attend this program.
The-- met. s are -plann-
ing a great musical cantata
for December 20th at 8 p.m.
at the evening service. Part
of this musical will be
presented in the Christian
Reform Church at Blyth on
December 19 as part of the
Community Christmas pro-
gram.
Threshers hold
annual meeting
The Huron Pioneer
Threshers and Hobby
Association met in the Blyth
Memorial Hall for their an-
nual meeting on November
20. President Wayne
Houston called the meeting
to order. The treasurer's
report showed a very good
year in 1982.
The president presented
the association with a new
set of bylaws which were
discussed at length and pass-
ed by the majority of the
club present at the meeting.
Past president Bob Cook
chaired the meeting for the
election of officers. They
are: Past President, Bob
Cook; President, Wayne
Houston; 1st Vice President,
Raymond Hallahan; 2nd
Vice President, Bill Vincent;
Secretary, Marian
