Bowers reumes seniors' presidency
At the Dungannon and
area seniors' meeting on
Wednesday : evening,
December 1, Ted Bowers
resumed the presidency of
the clubs.
Plans were discussed for
the Christmas pot luck din-
ner •to be held at Dungannon
United Church on Wednes-
day, December 15 at 12:30
noon. It was also decided
that each couple should br-

attack on Saturday,
December 4 before reaching

was on Monday in Wingham
at 3:30 p.m. Sincere sym-
pathy is extended to his wife
Evelyn and other family
members.

Beth Hodges is a patient in
Wingham hospital.
The death occurred near
London on Friday morning
of eight-year-old Nicole
(Nicky) Leishman of
Dashwood in a single car ac-
cident. Nicole, along with
her sisters, Wendy and Wan-
da and brother, Frank at-
tended Brookside School
when they resided at Belfast
with their father Frank.

Cemetery, Goderich on
Tuesday with arrangements
in charge of Stiles Funeral
Home. Sympathy is extend-
ed to the Grant Curran fami-
ly as Sandy is an aunt of
Nicole.
There were 14 tables of
euchre in play at Brookside
School on Wednesday even-
ing sponsored by the
Dungannon and area
seniors. Nels Pearson was
high scorer for the men with
a 67 and Elsie Irvin had a 74
for lady's high score. The
low scores were Jack Err-
ington with a 43 and Jodi
Kerr witha38.

Last Friday, 250 students
went skating and only 49
stayed at the school., We are
glad to see so many taking
the opportunity to get on the
ice. Room 12 made popcorn
last Friday also.
On Monday, Mr. Puddy,
from near St. Fielen's, gave
an interesting presentation
on bees to Rooms 1 and 8. His
son, Cedric Puddy, is in
Room 1.
Mrs. Bere's Grade 3
Reading Group successfully
finished a unit of in-
dividualized reading on
"Monsters" .'
When the fog cleared at
the arena on Wednesday, the
Islanders had defeated the
Shooters 7-4 in boys' hockey.
Marty Rivett led the way
with five goals, with singles
going to Scott McMichael
and Mark McConnell. Scor-
ing for the Shooters were
Brian Gruendler, . Donnie
Gammie, Leroy Dougherty
and Walter Martin.
The junior and senior
choirs have been busy prac-
tising for the Christmas con-
cert which is to be held on
December 16.
On December 3, Tony Mc -
Quail, the Huron County
Board of Education trustee
in this area, came to the
school and visited the
classrooms.
The Students' Council had
a record hop at noon hour on
December 3 and they were
very pleased with the par-
ticipation.
Because of changes in
routine due to practise for
the Christmas, concert, the
fall term for volunteers end-
ed on Friday. Both teachers
and students are grateful to
all those who participated in
the program. Some have ex-
pressed interest in continu-
ing during the winter term
and others wish to come
again in the spring term
when the weather is more
dependable.

p.m. in the council cham-

at 2 p.m. and will continue to

committee will meet Wed-
nesday, December 15 at 10
a.m. in town hall.
The Planning Board will

15 at noon in the town hall.
