research fund at meeting
The Canadian Foresters of
Western Ontario added
$4,872 to their Cancer
Research Fund at the 23rd
annual meeting. of the
Western Ontario Provincial
Assembly. An additional
$3,662 was donated to the
ICU of Listowel Hospital.
The W.O.P.A. '82 was
hosted by Huron District
Council of Canadian
Foresters at Waterloo Motor
Inn. Doreen Willis of Court
Fascination is president of
the council.
At the Friday opening ses-
sion, High Court Chaplain,
Stan MacDonald officiated
at the Memorial Service,
assisted by a team from
Courts Fascination and Ben -
miller.
Members of the team
were: Beverly Orr, Jean
Ginn, Dorothy Sowerby,
Ruth Oke, Audrey Ker-
nighan, Helen Riehl,
Suzanne Mcllwain, Doreen
Willis, Sylvia Johnston,
Alice Rodges, Isabel Sturdy,
Phyllis Cox and a quartet,
Hudson Milburn, Charles
Orr, Douglas Fuller and
Kenneth Sowerby.
Phyllis • Fisher prepared
the altar for the ceremony.
Lorna Milburn presided at
the organ for both the Friday
and Saturday sessions.
Local members elected to
the W.O.P.A. executive com-
mittee for 1983 were Gerry
Ginn, vice-president and
Hudson Milburn, executive
member. Doreen Willis was
named secretary.
At the closing banquet,
chaired by Hudson Milburn,
Glen Lamb accepted the Ac-
tivity Award for Court Ben -
miller; Leonard Fisher.
received a certificate as
runner-up to the "Forester
of the Year"; Suzanne McIl-
wain presented a cheque for
$500 for cancer from Court
Fascination, Glen Lamb
presented a cheque for $1200
for cancer from Court Ben -
miller; Gerry Ginn proposed
the toast to the "Order"; and
Phyllis Cox responded to the
toast to the "Ladies".
Winners of the money
draw were Ingrid Lemon of
Granton, $200; James Regal
of Listowel, $100;. Frances
Mills, of London, $50, Agnes
Smart of Woodstock was the
winner of the Japanese
screen -print.
Registrar Hudson Milburn
said 176 members
registered. Other represen-
tatives of the local courts
were: Jack and Karen
MacKinnon, Robert and
Rose Rising, Russell Ker-
nighan, Ted Johnston, and
Chester Sturdy.
