Novices reach finals A quick put -together Goderich Novice team out of the combined Novice -Atom House League reached the consolation finals on the November 27-28 weekend at the Early Bird Novice Tournament in Strathroy. The team which had'never played together, except in practises, was a bit slow getting started and lost their first game 5-0 to the Huron East No. 1 team. In the second game, the boys got it together and defeated Thedford 4-3 to advance to the consolation finals. Goals were scored by Kevin Schilthius, Jeff Kent, Doug MacDonald and Bryon Hodge. Assists went to David Edward, Ryan Farrish, Ryan McClinchey and Jeff Kent. Sunday the team went back to play Parkhill m what turned out to be one of the most exciting games hi the house league side of the tournament. After a scoreless first period, . Ryan McClinchey assisted by Bryon Hodge put Goderich ahead but Parkhill evened the score with one second left in the second period. The third period was also scoreless due to, some ex- cellent goaltending by Ian Campbell. • The overtime period was played without goalies and 9:58 passed before Parkhill scored to take the cham- pionship. It was an excellent effort by the Goderich team composed of: Ken Betties, David Boyce, Ian Campbell, Shawn Carver, Richard Charron,. Ryan Cuthbert, David Edward, Ryan Famish, Bryon Hodge, Jeff Kent,`` Doug MacDonald, Jason MacLeod, Ryan McClinchey, Andrew Scott and Kevin Schilthius. Coaches—Tom Grasby and Paul Rivers.
