Mrs. Daer marks 95th birthday
Some of us may have the
idea that when we get old, we
will be forgotten. But it
doesn't always work that
way.
On Saturday, November
27, Mr. and Mrs. N.O. Jerry.
of R.R. 5 Goderich, had open
house at their home for Mrs.
Jerry's mother, Mrs. Robert
Daer, formerly of Goderich
and now of Huronview, who
celebrated her 95th birthday.
During the afternoon, over
50 friends called to bring best
.- viahes•and have.a short visit
lovely in a pink flowered
dress with corsage. She
enjoyed herself to the fullest
as she shook hands, chatted
and introduced her room-
mate at Huronview, Mrs.
Mable Scott from Lon-
desboro who was a former
schoolmate and who also
celebrated her 90th birthday
this month. It was a pleasure
to see Mrs. Daer looking so
well and enjoying the af-
ternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. H.O. Jerry
received the many friends
and were assisted in the
afternoon by Mrs. Daer's
daughter, Marjorie, who
with her husband Don
Thompson of Thessalon
visited for a few days. Also
assisting were Mr. and Mrs.
Jerry's daughter, Mrs.' Doug
Soper of Mississauga and son
Jim and his wife Sue of
Colborne.
-A family' birthday dinner
was enjoyed in the evening.
Mrs. Daer's sister, Mrs.
Calvin (Kate) Cutt of
Goderich also visited early
in the afternoon as did Mrs.
Keith Cutt of Goderich. Mrs.
Daer has many friends and
relatives who were not able
to be present on Saturday to
extend best wishes but they
will be wishing her a happy
birthday and continued good
health.

John Amigaulik
Last Friday evening on the
t.v. news broadcast at 6 p.m.
an Inuit named John
Amigaulik spoke on plans to
divide the Northwest
Territories in regard to
voting.
It was in the 1960s, when
many lads learned to fly at
the Sky Harbbr Airport, that
three Eskimo men received
their training there. First
was Mark Markousiand next
came his brother John
Amigaulik, both from
Frobisher Bay, Baffin Island
and later Sandy Gordon from
Ungava Bay. All three
boarded at Tiger Dunlop Inn
and met quite a few people in
the area during their time of
training.
John has been on t.v.
broadcasts several times
and is apparently active in
representing the interests of
the Inuit people.
