After regular opening exercises, the president welcomed ail, including two 'carloads of guests from Clinton W.I. Maitland W.I. members were unable to attend. The roll call for the membership was "Laws for which Women are Thank- ful". Secretary -treasurer E. Sitter read the September meeting, minutes, treasurer's report and correspondence. Mrs. E. Anderson reported for sick members. Mrs. R. McCreight and Mrs. J.H. Johnstone are not in the best of health. Birthday greetings were sung for F. Hawthorn and M. Sutcliffe. Mrs. C. Taylor reproted. fo Tweedsmuir History. Mrs. G. Young, vice- president, conducted the social hour. A timely in- formative paper on the late Lt. -Col. McCra of Guelph was read. He was a surgeon of considerable skill who saved thousands of wounded soldiers. His famous poem, In Flanders Fields, was recited by M. Clairmont One of the Clinton guests gave a humorous reading entitled, "I Geg Mixed Up Sometimes." The silent auction was a success. Mrs. J. Cook and Miss K. McPherson con- ducted same and many in- teresting things were won by the visitors. Mrs. Lois Elliott, Clinton W.I. president, expressed appreciation for an en- joyable afternoon on behalf of her members. Mrs. Sitter and M. Clairmont attended the area convention in St. Marys and will give a report on it at the December meeting ' ... _ The., next_meeting will be the last until March: Members are requested to bring a donation or item for Family and Children's Services for Christrnas.y` After gmgiig the W.I. Grace, refreshments were served by Mrs. J. Schram; Mrs. A. Winces, Mrs. R. Wilson and Mrs. Irene Oke. Each guest was presented with a small gift. Mrs. C. Taylor and Mrs. F.
