(Photo by Shelley McPhee) • Family and Consumer Affairs present program The November meeting of the Goderich Township Women's Institute was held on November 8 in Holmesville. The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food is of- fering a short course More Sense than Dollars at the Community • Centre in Holmesville .on December 8th or 9th. Marion Powell and 'Hazel Mckreath volunteered to take this on behalf of the Institute:. Alice Porter gave a report on the Area Convention which she, attended as a delegate. • A motion was made and carried 'that the Institute would send $1 per member to the A.C.W.W. convention to be held in Vancouver in June, 1983. The December meeting will be held on Monday, December 13 at 7 p.m. This will be a family night with a potluck supper. Jot this date down on your calendar now. Dates ;were set for card parties to be held in the new year and members volunteered to organize the card parties to be held on November 25 and December 9. The Family and Consumer Affairs committee presented their program which con- sisted of a. film Eat, Drink and. Be Wary and short presentations on eggs and egg producers and on soy- bean production. A soybean casserole was sampled by everyone. A contest on advertising was conducted and members found out how much attention they paid to TV commercials and magazine advertisements. United news A large congregation brav- ed the snow and wintery weather to attend church at Holmesville on Sunday mor- ning. The junior choir sang with Hugh Lobb as their leader. Building against Ridicule was the topic of the minister's , sermon - - Bill Batkin and Carmen Tebbutt received the offering. ,.. The next card party will be held Thursday, November 25 at 8 p.m. r Youth group holds teen While the attendance at the teen dance at the Dungannon Agricultural Hall on Friday, November 12 was not as large as aniticipated, there was a fair showing of teenagers belonging to this group and their friends. All had a good time. During the evening there was a draw for a case of pop and this was won by the minister, Reverend R. Roberts. The Youth Group is made up of teenage boys and girls of Dungannon United and Nile United Churches and plans are for a meeting every week with two meetings in the month being "Activity Meetings." The group will have a regular meeting this Wednesday COLBORNE CORNER Gertrude Keating, 6R4-0074 evening in the Dungannon United Church. More members are needed and if you wish to join, contact some bf the teenagers already in the group and join in the fellowship and fun. School News The first term reports will be received by Colborne Central School students on Friday, November 19. On. Saturday, November 20 there will be ' a senior volleyball tournament at GDCI. On Monday, November 22 the school pictures will be taken and on Wednesday, November 24 there will be a P.A. Day with parent - teacher interviews.
