P.T. Dean is building a
cement block store house
behind his grocery store,
corner of East Street.
Milk is now eight cents a
quart, a pretty stiff price.
The Wheels Rigs Com-
pany's building is getting on,
the smoke stack being neatly
finished and the greater part
of the glass being in place.
The brick work of the
factory for the Jackson
Manufacturing Company is
more than half completed.
The freight staff of the
GTR yesterday moved from
the old office to the new one.
Thanksgiving- Day was
celebrated quietly, driving
and roller rink skating being
the leading amusements.
Deputy -reeve Elliott has to
move his recent purchase,
the GTR freight shed, this
month. He will place it on the
corner lot next to Crystal's
boiler shop, opposite the
depot. It will make a first
class storehouse.

connection with the building
of a two-storey addition and
also a garage at the

BY THE REVEREND
ROBERT CROCKER,
ST, GEORGE'S
ANGLICAN CHURCH
There are aims and ob-
jectives worth fighting for.
During World War II we
were very conscious that we
were fighting to preserve our
way of life, and although we
may not always have been.
very certain what we meant
by "way of life", we were
very sure that the enemy
was trying to destroy many
of the things we valued.
Yes, the end justifies the
means. What else can? Of
course there are many who
would say that any means is
acceptable short of war it-
self, especially for a
Christian. To which I must
reply that sometimes we
have no choice as Christians
or otherwise. And that's the
way it has been for us.
Remembrance Day is not,
then, an occasion for
glorifying war and violence..
We would none of us wish to
relive those days, even "Our
Finest Hours" as Churchill
called them. Glorious they
were, but nothing we can do
or say now will either add to
or detract from them. They
are part of our proud history.
Remembrance Day, as the
name indicates, is rather a
time to remember that many
people paid a price for our
future: the supreme
sacrifice of life itself. We
often pray that our efforts
and our gifts may be ac-
ceptable to God together
with the Supreme Sacrifice
of our Lord and Saviour. I
would most certainly pray
that the sacrifice of many
lives for our sakes would be
received by God -and that
makes Remembrance Day,
at least for me, a time of
prayer.
It is worthwhile remem-
bering, "lest we forget" that
the freedom and the values
we cherish were bought with
a price as, indeed, our
salvation . was. On
Remembrance Day at the
war memorial I shall not
forget. I hope you will join
.me in remembering.
