Ray Primeau
At a recent awards
presentation held at the
Royal Canadian Legion Hall
in Arthur, Corporal Ray
Primeau of the Goderich
OPP Detachment received
his 20 year Long Service and
Good Conduct Medal.
This medal is presented to
a member of irreproachable
character who has served
not less than 20 years, the
last 10 of which shall have
been with good conduct and
satisfactory service.
Corporal Primeau has
served at Seaforth and
Goderich.
Commissioner Jim
Erskine made the presen-
tation at a ceremony that
included four other
recipients of the same
medal, two civilian OPP
Long Service awards, four
OPP Awards for Bravery, 11
Commissioner's Citations
and three St. John
Ambulance Awards.
Receiving Commissioner's
Citations were Richard
Adolph Kloss and his son,
Richard Dean Kloss of
Brucefield , for their
courageous life-saving ac-
tions at an accident scene in
Tuckersmith Township on
May 13, 1982.
Students
awarded
FifteenCanadian universi-
ty graduate students have
been awarded IODE scholar-
ships and re -appointments
totalling $80,780 for the
academic year 1982-83. The
post -graduate scholarships
-are valued at $10,000 for
study in a Commonwealth
university and $5,500 for
study in Canada, and re-
appointments are $3,000.
The awards, designated
War Memorial Graduate
Scholarships, were
established by the National
Chapter of Canada, IODE,
after the First and Second
World Wars, as a tribute and
continuing memorial to
those who had sacrificed
their lives for their country.
Since 1920, over $2 million
has been awarded to more
than 500 IODE Scholars, in-
cluding such distinguished
Canadians as: Richard
Allway, Matthew Halton,
Marshall McLuhan, Sen.
Alan McNaughton, the Hon.
J. W. Pickersgill, Lionel
Tiger and Albert William
Trueman.

IODE held . their November
meeting at the'home of Mrs.
H.J. Murphy. Regent Mrs.
W.J. McIntyre presided.
Funds were voted to Pro-
vincial and National IODE
Chapters in support ,of the
many projects for which
these Chapters are responsi-
ble.
Education Secretary Mrs.
, G. Hunter read a letter from

Labrador. She also reported
Christmas gifts going to the
class include mittens, educa-

Regent Mrs. McIntyre
named the Nominating Com-
mittee for 1983. They are
Mrs. Doreen Garrow, Mrs.,
RuthRoss and Mrs. Anna
Finnie.
The December meeting
will be held at the Maitland
Country Club on Tuesday.
