Novics forged onto ice too soon; lose as result The Garb and Gear Novices lost one and won one on the weekend in Shamrock League play. On Friday night, the local team travelled to Parkhill where they lost 3-0. Coach Brian Rumig explains that his boys were rushed onto the ice and forced to start the game before all of the players were even dressed in their uniforms. This caused total disorganization resulting in the loss. Parkhiill's first two goals came in the first period and the third one was scored in the first minute of the second period. On Saturday, the local Novice team entered the Goderich arena fired up and played an exceptional game, defeating Exeter 5-1. Coach Rumig says his boys hardly allowed Exeter to get the puck out of their own end and fridge scores On November 2 the Goderich Bridge Club took part in a continent -wide Olympiad Fund Game. In St. Marys on Saturday, the Goderich team definitely outplayed -their opposition with 35 shots on net com- pared to St. Marys' 19. However, they were stymied time and time again by excellent goal tending and in the third period, their two - game weekend seemed to have tired them out. Tim Harrison opened up the scoring for Goderich only 10 seconds into the' first period on an assist from Lonnie Rumig. St. Marys then scored two in a row to go ahead. Before the first period was over though, Goderich had tied things up with another goal by Harrison again on an assist from Rumig. The second period remained scoreless but with only a minute and a half left in the third period, St. Marys scored the whining goal on an unassisted breakaway and the game ended in their favour despite a valiant attempt by Goderich to rally for a tie.
