Reverend Norman Pick was in charge of the service. Frank Bissett presided at the organ. While we are hoping for more beautiful weather such as we are having today our good days could. well be numbered, However this afternoon several residents were out catching a few last golden rays. Have you been enjoying the sunsets? Last night the sky was ablaze with gorgeous colour. Monday afternoon residents were entertained by Marie Flynn and her group of musicians.. They played several old time favourites to the delight of everyone. On the program too was Debbie .Flynn who held the interest of the au- dience as she did some ex- Huronview news cellent stepdance routines. Tuesday was a special day as residents and staff hosted a luncheon party for guests from Maitland Manor and those generous people from Goderich who provided us with a musical program on which there was plenty of variety. Gordon Harrison who literally brought the keyboard to life with his piano styling accompanied Francis Schram and Rill Hughes on violins and played a medley 4ef modern numbers. The Ross twins Bill and Ebb played some - lively pieces on their mouth organs assisted by Audrey Kerr at the piano. Francis Schram who seems to h<eve full control of his viulin at all times played some great toe, tapping tunes accompanied by Audrey. The program was heartily enjoyed by everyone. Mabel Scott who earlier welcomed our guests thanked the musi- cians for their contribution. Thanks to all those people who made our day a success. Wednesday was another beautiful day and sorhe of the residents were out for a van ride. Ed. Stiles from Goderich was here Thursday after- noon and entertained the residents as he played several favourite selections on.the chapel organ. The judges Mabel Scott, Helen Bradley, Margaret McQueen, Olive McMillan and Frank Bissett had a, difficult time deciding who were winners in the con- test. The costumes were all good but the ones who took prizes were Shane McDonald, Angela Murray, Chris Dixon, Louann Stephenson, Lee Gibbings, Grant Louis, Derek Hoggar- -th, Karen Freeman, Tannis Reid. The children were given treats of homemade fudge. Special thanks to Dixie Lee for donating certificates to the winners entitling them to- a snack at the Dixie Lee. BARZ, BEREA-IW-THE-WATER LUTHERAN CHURCH Where's the road map? My family and I have done a lot of travelling by car, often in new and, unfamiliar ter- ritory. , Usually we are careful to have road maps, but there have been times when we forgot. Sometimes that has resulted in delays and wasted time, but a fami- ly joke is that dad will never admit to being lost, just tem- porarily • confused. Nobody likes to.admit to, being lost. Life is very much like a journey, and each day takes us through unfamiliar ter- ritory. How thankful we' should be that God blas given. His Word as a perfect road map, and the offer of His presence to guide us safely along. But what happens when people foolishly neglect to read the map of God's Word, and turn away. from or ignore His guidance? The answer to that ques- tion is what we are seeing all around us now. So many hopes and dreams of securi- ty, prosperity, comfort, are crashing on the rocks of unemployment, inflation, economic uncertainty . and. fear of nuclear holocaust. Stress and anxiety related health problems are at an all-time high. Just as when we are travelling I don't like to ad- mit to having lost my "way, so, our human natures do not like to admit that as a people we may have lost our way in life.. Yet God warns that when there is widespread in - Get involved in accident prevention Plan to attend our Executive Committee and "Orientation Session" — Guests welcome NOVEMBER 17, 1982 THE FESTIVAL MOTOR INN, 1144 Ontario Street, STRATFORD Mr. J. When God gets push- ed out of His rightful place in the centre of our lives, and self or anything else is given the centre we can expect to reap the harvest of the seeds of destruction we ourselves have sown. In Proverbs chapter 1 God says: "since they would not accept my advice and spurn- ed my rebuke, they will eat the fruits of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes. For the waywardness of the` simple will kill them, and the com- placency of fools will destroy them; but whoever listens to Me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm." ( Proverbs 1: 30-33 NIV) Have you let God, His Word, His worship, be crowded out of your life? Have your weekends become just a time for self- indulgence? Do you turn away when God's Word calls out to you? Let us be warn- ed! And let us also respond to His call in Jesus the Son of God, who lived and died to bring us back to.
