Hodges of Port Albert died in University Hospital, London on Tuesday, October 26 at the age of 80. She was born in Hullett Township on August 29, 1902 to Henry and Hannah (Freeman) Glazier. She married Mervin M. Hodges in Auburn on February 22, 1922. He predeceased her on December 6, 1969. The late Mrs. Hodgeshad . been a resident of Port Albert since 1938. She was a member of Christ Anglican Church in Port Albert and the ACW of that church. She is survived by two sons, Arnold of Goderich and Harvey of Port Albert; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Jean) Wenzel of Port Albert and Mrs. Allan (Elaine) Brown of Colborne Township; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren. A funeral service was held at McCallum Funeral Home in Goderich on Friday, October 29 at 2 p.m. The Reverend Robert J. Crocker officiated. Interment was in Christ Church Cemetery, Port Albert. Pallbearers were Ken Hodges, Lloyd Hodges, Jim Doherty, Frank Doherty, Elwin Petrie and Harold Adams. Flower bearers were Elton Draper and Clarence Doherty. MRS. MARGARET (LEITCH) McLEOD Mrs. Margaret (Leitch) McLeod of 114 Elgin Avenue, East, Goderich died in Alexandra Marine and General' Hospital on Wed- nesday, October 27 at the age of 97. She was born near Bayfield on March 28, 1885 to David and Lucinda (Lawrasen) Leitch. rt resident dies at OBITUARI She lived in Bayfield until moving to Michigan m 1918. She married John McLeod in Detroit. He predeceased her. She moved to Goderich in 1965 and was an adherent of Knox Presbyterian Church here. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Day of Goderich; two grandchildren, Mark Day, of Panama City, Panama and Leslie Day, of San Diego, California; and one brother, Albert Leitch of Goderich. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, David and George ( both killed at Fort William in 1915), William of Goderich; and three sisters, Mrs. John (Ella) Bailey of Stratford, Mrs. Cam (Mabel) Tweedie of Goderich and Mrs. George ( Pearl) McCrae of Toronto. A funeral service and committal were held at Stiles Funeral Home in Goderich on Friday, October 29 at 2 p.m. The Reverend G.L. Royal officiated. Interment was in Bayfield Cemetery, Bayfield. FRANK ROBINSON Frank Robinson of Clinton died on October 28th in Clinton Public Hospital. He was 79 years old. Born in Middlesborough, Yorkshire England on August 7, 1903, Mr. Robinson was married in later years to Isabella Morley. The couple later immigrated to Canada where Mr. Morley worked as a stationary engineer. Mr. l'"obinson is survived by one daughter Mrs. Alan (Renee) Straughan of Clinton and two sons Charles of Clinton and David of Hamilton. Rev. James Bechtel was in charge of funeral services and interment followed in the Maitland Cemetery in Goderich. Pallbearers were his grandsons Ron Chisholm, Ian Chisholm, Tim Robin- son, Lance Robinson, Tony Robinson and Philip Robinson. JEANNE BENNETT Bayfield was saddened this week by the sudden death on Thursday, October 21st, of Jeanne Bennett, we of the former Rectior, William Bennett. She was descended from pioneer families, her mother's father eing the first settler m 1Vlarkdale, Grey County, and her father a pioneer farmer in Howard Township, Kent County. From a one room school ins Howard Township, Jeanl'e pursued her education through high school in Chatham to the University of Western Ontario where she earned a degree in Secretarial Science in 1938. During 1964 and .'65 she returned to school at Althouse College in order to secure her teaching cer- tificate, and from then on taught at Lucas Secondary School in London, Annandale High School in Tillsonburg, Blenheim District High School and finally at Con- estoga College until her retirement in 1981. Gentle and with a quiet sense of humour, Jeanne also supported local ac- tivities in the village as membership secretary of the Bayfield Historical Society. She was also active in the church acting as recording secretary to the South Saugeen Deanery Anglican Church Women, Trinity Church Guild and ACW, and' she was also a former, member of St. James, Mid- dleton ACW. Her other hob- bies, bridge and gardening, found expression as a member of the Marathon , Bridge Group and the Bayfield -Garden Club, and she was a regular member of the choir at Trinity. During the time that her husband was Rector of Trinity and St. James, Jeanne was always there,. unobtrusive but sup- portive, liked and respected by all who came in contact with her. Her funeral took place on October 25th, and the church and Parish Hall were filed with family, friends and parishioners. Taking part in the service were the Rt. Rev. William Townsend, the Ven. Ray Farrell, the Rev. George Youmatoff, the Rev. Douglas Pitts and the ;Rev. Gordon Reynolds. Mrs. Jackie Thompson returned to play the organ. In his homily, the Rev. Reynolds referred to her special qualities as wife and mother echoing the , sen- timents of the lesson, "Her children rise up, and call her blessed." The service was followed by the Holy Eucharist, after which the family were joined by the congregation in the Parish Hall. Pallbearers were the Rev. Robert Ben- nett, Dr. Michael Bennett, Neil Bennett (sons), Robert Sharp (son-in-law), David Hill and Jay Fisher. Mrs. Bennett is survived by her husband, her son William in Australia, The Rev. Robert Bennett and his wife Kathleen 'of Kitchener, Dr. Michael Bennett and his wife Mary of London, Neil Bennett, Mrs. Kerry Sharp and. Miss Sally Bennett, and 12 grandchildren.
