Mustangs lose on weekend
- In (ventral Junior 'C' ac-
tion last weekend the Clinton
Mustangs lost two 'more
games. On Friday night the
Walkerton Black Hawks shut
out the Stangs.3-0 for the se-
cond game in a row. On Sun-
day they travelled to
Wingham and the Ironmen
beat the 'Stangs 7-3. In both
games the Mustangs
outplayed their opposition
but failed to put the puck in
the net enough to win.
Walkerton scored two
power play goals in Friday
night's game, one in each of
the first two periods, to put
the game out of reach for the
Mustangs as the locals tried
in vain in the third period but
just couldn't find the trigger
to get back into the game.
Sunday , afternoon:. in
Wingham the Mustangs gave
up four first period goals
while scoring only one by
Brian Horner. The teams
traded goals in the second
period as Darryl Graham
scored for the Mustangs. The
third period goal for Clinton
was scored by Ken Thornton.
Mustangs goaltending of Jim
MacDonald and Jeff
Denomy stopped 30 shots in
the Wingham game.
At a special executive
-meeting held Sunday night
the Mustang executive hired
Jim Nigro of Stratford as the
new coach. This weekend the
Mustangs will play host to
the Port Elgin Bears on Fri-
day night while on Sunday
they will travel to Hanover
to face the Barons at 1 p.m.
Business Association
discusses store hours
WINGHAM - Even after a
poll of its members the
Wingham Business
Association is no closer to a
decision about whether or
not stores in town will stay
open Thursday, as well as
Friday evening.
Bob Middleton reported
that results of a poll showed
that out of 53 businesses
polled, 16 are presently
staying open Thursday
nights and nine more would
be interested, in doing so.
The , matter resulted from
a discussion when some
members said theiethought
a Thursday night and
perhaps even a Monday
opening would be beneficial
to Wingham business people.
