Through investigation by airport' committee secretary Ken Hunter and airport manager Ed Scruton, it has been discovered that there is a sewer line within 20 feet of the proposed building and a water line within approx- imately 15 feet of it. This will reduce the cost to install the services substantially. It is • expected that the hydro service duct- will, be. placed very soon and Sid B•ruinsma Excavating Limited has been hired to in-• Stall the\septic tank system at a cost of $1,200. In other business, Secretary Hunter informed the • committee that he and manager Scruton have been inspecting the building of the airport maintenance garage on a- daily basis and. that B.M. Ross and. Associates, the. engineering firm for the project, are also carrying out inspections. He stated that he was pleased with the progass and the quality of the''lfilding to date and that there does not appear to be any problems. The footings, foundation,. storm drains and backfilling are complete and the walls are currently under construction. Manager Scruton was authorized by the committee to dose the gate adjacent to the purnp house at the airs port and re -align ,the fence. By doing this, he told the committee in a written re- quest, that a • lot of un- necessary snow plowing would be reduced; more room• for snow removal in front of the garage would be provided; and people would be discouraged from driving their vehicles onto the apron of the runway which is directly ahead of this en- trance. • Scruton explained to the committee: "We currently have threeentrances to the airport off the county road. The first goes directly into the main public parking lot, the second is between the ex- isting pumphouse and the third is between the garage and B&B Aircraft who also have their own entrance. The fence line. and gate on the second entrance enters the airport property on •a 45 degree angle for a distance of •about 20 feet., thereby. reducing the usable area Get Read To Laugh At Winter Be Prepared For Those Howling Winter Winds...See Us Today For Our Weekly CAR CARE SPECIALS between the pumphouse ,arid the new garage. I feel that with the other two entrances, this one is not necessary and I wish to close it off." Scruton told the commit- tee 'that preparations were underway at the airport for winter with the, snowblower being rejuvenated and a snow plow and truck being brought here from London airport for use this. year. He also informed the com- mittee that he had removed a . cluster of, 'poplar trees located just east of B&B Air- craft on P town owned land and graded the area. He said the trees were becoming un- sightly and in the wayof snow removal operations. He also said he planned to replant some maple trees on the south side of the service road in the spring in their place. . - To The Electors OF West Wawanosh Township PLEASE RE-ELECT J. D. Before you turn it on, check for worn or frayed places on the'cord or other defects. The Ontario Safety League offers these tips to help keep heat in its place: Provide adequate clearance between the space heater and drapes, magazine rack or anything flammable. It's safer to avoid using ex- tension cords, but if one is needed temporarily, use a heavy-duty cord that you're sure will carry the electrical load. Ordinary lamp exten- sion cords should not be us- ed. Purchase electric heaters equipped with an automatic shut-off that cuts the power when the heater is tipped over. Most importantly, make sure children don't go near the heater where they can be burned, start a fire, or receive a serious electric shock.
