Accounts totalling over
$42,000 were ordered paid
when Goderich Township
Council met in regular
session October 4. Of this
amount, over $7,000 was for
tile drain debentures; over
$16,000 was for tile drain
loans; and over $18,000 was
for road superintendent
payroll.
Ross Dobson was at the
meeting to present three
plans for the development of
his property on lot 74, Base
Line. .Council passed a
motion to rescind the action
previously taken on the land
severance request, which
stated that any future
severances should 'be by
registered, Plan, of Sub-
division,, and agreed to the
development of the property
by pre -design proposal
number two, provided that
the applicant pays the sum of
$500 for each lot severed.
Peter Brand was also
present at the meeting to ask
about the status of land in lot
76, Base Line insofar as
permission to erect a
residence. He will be issued
a letter stating that the
property is eligible for a
residence provided that he
meets the criteria of the
Hartman severance.
Robert Kelly was present
as well to discuss the
development of his proposed
plan of subdivision and the
drainage problems en-
countered. No motions were
recorded regarding this.
Two requests for
municipal drains were
received; one from R. Kelly
and one from William
Mcllwain. Council passed a
motion that these petitions
be received and referred to
W.J. Bartlett for
eaaminaton• andreport.
By-law number 15, 1982, a
by-law to establish a tile
drain debenture on two
owners for a total of $8,800,
and passed. givethree readings .
Building permits were
issued to Gerald. Orr for a
grain bin on lot 20, con-
cession 3; Mark Hartman for
a storage shed on lot 76, Base
Line; Michael Moriarty for a
Wood shed on lot 34, con-
cession 5; and James Koene
for a corn crib on lot 28,
concession 1.
Tenders for crushing and
hauling 20,000 cubic yards of
gravel were opened and that
of Seeley and Arnill for a
total of $26,800 was accepted
over four others.
Council then adjourned
until October 18.
Youth
program
available
The Ministry of
Agriculture and Food, in
conjunction with The Youth
Secretariat, • is offering an\
employment program for
youth in Ontario. To be eligi-
ble for employment, youth
must be between 16 - 24 years
of age and looking for work
for at least 12 weeks.
Preference will be given to
those who want 'to work and
will not necessarily be based
on educational qualifica-
tions.
The employment period is
for 12- 20 weeks beginning no
earlier than November 8,
1982 and endingno later than
March 30, 1983. Deadline for
applications for initial
employment is November 1,
198.
The youths will be placed
on farms with, the idea. that
they will be obtaining on-the-
job training. The employee
must be • willing to do any
sort of farm labour, in-
cluding cleaning barns.

maintenance. Horticultural
enterprises are also includ-
ed.
Host farmers for' the pro-
gram are' also required.

. There is no direct cost to the
farmer; however, in some
cases room and board 'may
be requested. Farmer hosts
are needed who are willing
to provide a source of infor-
mation. and experience to
these youths.
