Marian Zinn, Huron County Board of Education trustee for 14 years, is retiring and her

Hospital auxiliary sees film
Mrs. Deanne Dickson from
Town and Country
Homemakers, serving all of
Huron County, was the
special speaker at Monday's
meeting of the Women's
Hospital Auxiliary.
An excellent film was
shown of the work done by
this agency. At present there
are 75 homemakers in the
county. They are graduates
of the Visiting Homemakers
Program of Conestoga
College and members of
Family Care Workers
Association of Ontario. This
. is a registered non-profit
charitable organization with
offices in Wingham on
Victoria Street.
The homemaker is a
trained person who can help
maintain and preserve a
family environment with
skills in both homemaking
and personal care. They care
for infants, children, adults
and the elderly.
Mrs. Dickson showed
many excellent slides of
beautiful areas m Huron
County.
The business meeting
followed:Mrs. Smith
reported on her day at,
Regional Conference, when
the special speaker, Dr.
Nelles Dean of Waterloo
University, spoke on
"Palliative Care".
Mrs. Clarke reported'on
the gift shop. • Christmas
articles are now available
and the choice of children's
clothing is excellent. Plan to
do your Christmas shopping
early.
The hairdressing shop at
the hospital is being well
patronized and patients
report their pleasure in
being able to have hair
appointments. \
Volunteers offered 'their
services to the Emergency
Disaster Plan, should such
an emergency arise at night
time.
A bake sale and craft sale
will be held in the Auxiliary
Room on Friday, December
3 at 2 p.ni. - a good chance to
stock your freezer for
Christmas!
Visitors are welcome at
any regular meeting on the
third Monday of each month.
Police report
two break-ins

Tuesday night,
the Goderich 1

hooks and lures stolen.' On
Saturday night, October 16,
Victoria Public School was
broken into. A window and
some pumpkins inside a
classroom were smashed.
Also on Saturday night, a
car was stolen from East
Street. It was recovered the
next day. ;
There were also five
bicycle thefts during the
week of October 11-17.
Police investigated two
accidents. On Thursday;
October 14, one car crowded
another car off the road on
Toronto Street causing a
total of $1500 damage to both
vehicles. On Tuesday,
October 19 at the corner of
'Victoria , and St. David
Streets, a moped ran into a
car which had failed to yield.
The dri''ier of the moped was
taken to hospital with minor
injuries.
During --the week, police
also made two arrests and
laid two criminal charges; •
four liquor charges and four
.Highway Traffic Act charges
as well as issuing seven
warnings.
