He walked away from the grandstand stage following his winning performance Sunday afternoon having earned the right to represent the Western Fair at the Mid - South Fair's Youth Talent International competition in Memphis on October 3. Talented amateur per- formers from fairs and ex- hibitions across the conti- nent will compete for cash awards totalling $12,500. The son "of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Warren of Hanover, Janne is a student . at Con- estoga College in Kitchener where he is in his third and final year of the radio and television broadcasting course. He entered the Southwestern Ontario Youth Talent Search at the Central Ontario Exhibition in Kit- chener last month: His per- formance there "gained him a spot in the quarter -final competitions at the Western Fair along with other con- testants representing Kit- chener, Exeter, St. Marys, Woodstock and London. Twelve finalists were selected (three in each of the, four categories of competi- tion - vocal, instrumental, dance : and variety) and Jamie was chosen winner of the vocal category and overall winner on the fair's closing day. - • Runners-up' were the McMichael Sisters, a step - Mance group from Wroxeter, who were also judged first in the dance category.
