The afternoon !program in- cluded sports conducted by and Rtdh Townsend and 'end June Johns, which were enjoyed by all. Results were: Races: girls and boys four and under - Charlene Town - sed, Jason Hugill, Kathy Niezgoda; girls 54- Corrie Ann Koestier, Jane Johnson; boys 54 - Brent Whitmore; , girls 7-9 Annett Lockhart. The helicon relay for the adults was won by Pete and Erma Haswell. . The, children enjoyed a peanut scramble. The swim- ming pool was also opened for anyone to enjoy. Everyone enjoyed a delicious smorgasbord sup- per with barbecued chicken prepared by Murray and Dons Crich. The president, Larry Mc- Clinchey, held a short business meeting. A commit- tee was set up regarding the location of next year's pic- nic. They are: Murray Crich, Doug Hugill, Gary Hugill and Doris 'furrows. The officers for 1983 are: president - Gat -y vice president - Wesley Hugill; secretary - Sandra Johnson; treasurer - Ruth Townsend sports committee - Stan and June Johns, Bill and Donald Crich; and lunch committee - Betty Lockhart, Millie Hugill, Helen Craig, and Gail Hugill. Farrish picnic held The 21st annual Farrish picnic was held Sunday, August 1 at the Ashfield Township Park with ap- proximately 60 people in attendance. Following an afternoon of visiting, a delicious supper was enjoyed. A minute's silence was observed for Ehner Farrish, Dave McDermid, Lillian Hodge and Minne Horn who had all passed away during the year. Mrs. Elmer (Hilda) Farrish announced that Donna Thacker and Anna Wilson would now be looking after the family tree book for her late husband. During the business session conducted by president Grant Farrish, elections for 1983 took place. Jim Farrish will be the new president and Joanne Buchanan will be secretary - treasurer. Winnie Walters and Joanne Buchanan will be in charge of sports and prizes. The youngest person present at the picnic was two and half -month-old Kiel Jordan Farrish, son of Jim and Nancy Farrish. The eldest lady present was Grace Farrish and the eldest man present was Lorne Farrish. Marie Dignan guessed the correct number of jelly beans in the jar. ' Games and races were conducted by Anna Mae McDougall and Lois Farrish. Kim Farrish won the race -for girls six and under and 'Int girls- t6 it Matthew , Hoy wan for boys six and under. Chris Farrish and David McDougall tied for boys up to 12. Heather McDougall won the young ladies' race and Peter Shelton won thyoungmen's race. Diane Parrish won the ladies' kick -the -slipper and Grant Rankin won the men's kick -the -slipper. Michael Nobert and. David McDougall. won the wheelbarrow race. A candy scramble then followed for the children. Next year's picnic will be held the first Sunday in August at the same location with supper at 5 p.m.
