Michael (Roger Dunn) and Agnes (Nonnie Griffin) give
outstanding performances in the Huron Country
Playhouse production of the The Fourposter. The two
portray a married couple who weather the storms of
matrimony over a 35 year period. Interspersed with
humour,, the play offers a realistic view of our own lives.

-The'eplot-revolves.-around-w
the married lives of Michael
(Roger Dunn) and Agnes
(Nonnie Griffin) and is
centred in their turn of the
century bedroom with its
looming fourposter bed.
From the opening scene,
where the newlyweds cross
the threshold to their
bedroom, the audience is
caught -up in the awkward,
sexual nervousness of the
wedding night.
The bliss, of the wedding
night soon gives way to the
_ struggles the couple en-
counters during, different
stages of their- marriage.
The first child,teenage
children, when the children
leave, personality clashes in
later life and the final scene
where the couple move from
.the room that has been an
integral part of their lives.
Michael is a humourous,
egotistical and at times
hysterical male, while Agnes
is the composed, contented
housewife. Although 'set' in
the early part of this cen-
tury, the problems the
couple encounter and
overcome are equally
prevalent today.
'The Fourposter is the story
of a happy marriage. A bond
between two people that
survives through turbulent
times and situations. It is a
tribute to married life,.
brought to the audience in a
humouristic way, that at
times has the audience
laughing through scenes that
are serious pieces of reality.
The Fourposter portrays a
part of life that many of us
have experienced. The ac-
ting is superb from the
opening scene to the last
curtain. It is a must for those
who enjoy a comical look at
themselves and life.
