Dear Editor,
Three yearsago anew ball
league was formed in
Goderich. I2 is •called the
G:oderieh .ladies'Mow-Pitch
League and it now consists of
seven teams, an executive, a
tournament .committee and a
lot of hard working .
dedicated coaches and
umpires that help make the
League.
G.o.derich• SHOULD be
proud of us?
But now we seem to be
running into a lot of disputes,
grudges, hatred, back -
stabbing, gossiping and the
fundam,entais .or the
potential of the SPORT are
completely forgotten! There
is no , FELLOWSHIP,
SPORTSMANSHIP and no
_fee n.
Mistakes can be made;
and fair erg urnents,'
Opinions, reasoning, changes
and sound. judgements are
LETTERS
needed for bettering our
league. All these should be
voiced at our open and
general meetings at o a
committee level, not like at a
" war table". More order and
FRIENDSHIP should
happen at our:
RECREATIONAL meetings.
Another important thing
that our league needs is full
support, respect and
representation from our own
home teams in out-of-town
tournaments. • I was
thoroughly embarrassed by
same of the teams in the
League daring the Formosa
slow -pitch" tournament last
• weekend. We need each
other's support in order to
bring , back our prizes,
trophies and reeognition
back to our home town.
i have been told that the
only problem with being a.
"geed sport" is that you
have to tos_e toprove it
Let's make this a fun -filled
game, a chance to keep fit, a
chance to make new friends, ,
a chance to better ourselves
and let's show- our children
what it is like to .play in an
adult activity. instead of
letting our children spew us
how to play hal!'.
Marilyn Albin,
A Goderich Ladies'
Slow -Pitch
League Player.
Thanks for the hospitality
Dear Editor,
We are delighted and
proud to have been a par-
ticipant in exhibiting in your
annual ''Festival of the Arts
and Crafts" in Goderich July
22-24.
We wish to commend you
on the very fine way your
Festival was organized from
the friendly welcoming at
the registration desk to the
continued interest shown to
us throughout the exhibition.
The kit with enclosures was
greatly appreciated in-
cluding the "Exhibitor"
sticker. We enjoyed and
appreciated the party and
luncheon at MacKay Centre
on North Street and realize
how much planning and
work was involved.
' We wish you continued
success ip future festivals.
Thank you `for your
hospitality.
Cordially,

Dear Editor,
One year agd the Signal -
Star wrote an article about
the Homestead Group Home.
At that time, 'we had only
temporary licence to operate
the hemp undeer, the
of Community :.nd Social
Service. We are pleased to
announce that . the
Homestead has been granted
a permanent licence with
high standing.
We would like to thank the
-Goderich community for
their support through our
first year. As well, we ap-
preciate the co-operation
shown by both Public and
Separate School Systems.
We thank our families and
friends for their supportive
encouragement

The Royal 'Canadian Legion
Branch 109 and the Goderich
Optimist Club. Because ' of
the donation from the
Legion; we purchased and
installed a dishwasher. This
equipment allowed us to
meet the health regulations
of the Ministry of Com-
munity and Social 'Services
as well as further allowing us
to increase the number of
children to five. Through the
generosity of the Optimist
Club, , we were able to pur-
chase camping and canoeing
gear for our summer
The generosity and con-
cern shown by both
organizations and the
community is greatly ap-
preciated ' by the staff and
children of the Homestead
Group Home.
Sincerely,
Ms. Betty Bedard,
Director.

Take the hint Pierre
Dear Editor,
Our wonder -boy is once
again a celebrity, being
offered approximately
$5000,000 to retire.
In my opinion, he cannot
legitimately accept this
money because it is a bribe,
and it also undermines the
legal process of voting.
If there are individuals
who have money to throw
arohhd to support a whim,
the money would serve .a
much better purpose if it was
directed into the Canada
Pension Plan, which cer-
tainly has not\competed with
inflation.
As for the P.M.. he must
have received the message,
because I really do not think
his skin is that thick. He
reminds me of a situation
where an individual who was "Why?", and he' replied "I
inebriated was thrown out of hada hint to leave." '
a :dance. When questioned
about it, he said he was going
home. •His . partner asked
