In presenting his final report, Alex D. Broomfield,. the 1982 Canadian Heart Fund Chairman said, "The residents in: the province. of Ontario can be proud of their substantial contributions to the crusade against heart disease, :and. 'stroke_ - Evidence 'to date, that research bas paid off; is in the fact that the overall death rate from heart and blood vessel diseases, for people under 65 years of age, is down 27 percent since 1953. Marked reductions have been achieved in deaths due to stroke. In heart attack, the single 'leading cause of, death -in Canada, the decline. has only been 11 'percent. He continued by saying that the residents of Ontario have en- dorsed the work of the On- tario Heart Foundation, through their continuous support over the years and that vital medical research in the area of heart disease and stroke will continue to receive the financial support of the Foundation. Church, Goderich on May 29 at 3 p.m. for the wedding ceremony of Mary Jane Erskine of vuucilw ai, s brook of R.R. 2 Clinton The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Erskine of Goderich and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Westbrook of R.R.. 2 Clinton The Reverend G.L. Royal officiated at the double -ring ceremony. Music was provided :;y soloist Andrea Jackson who �sang The Wedding Song and Annie's Song. The. bride was„ given in marriage by' her parents. She wore a long white gown featuring a mandarin collar neckline and fitted bodice with guipure lace appliques giving way to a softly flowing chiffon skirt. The back of the gown was enhanced by a cathedral length Watteau train. A lace covered headdress .with a three- quarter length mantilla .veil completed the ensemble and the _bride carried the lace covered white Bible carried by her mother on her wed- ding day With orchids, stephanotis trailers and white streamers. Maid of honor was Elizabeth Redmond of St. Catharincs. She wore a gown of American Beauty rose taffeta featuring a deep scoop neckline, puff sleeves ,and fitted bodice with a full formal skirt.. She carried a cascading , bouquet . of variegated miniature car- nations, arnations, white pom pom mums and baby's breath. Bridesmaid was Jane Rowcliffe of Seaforth. She was gowned the same as the relaid of honor and carried the same flowers. Flower girl was Amanda Westbrook of R.R. 2 Clinton. She wore a white dueo dot Little Anne design dress with a Holly Hobbie band ' ac- cented by a rose velvet sash and carried the same flowers as the maid of honor in a basket. Groomsman was Scott Raithby of Trenton. Guests were ushered into the church by Peter Erskine, hmthes. of the bride and Larry Westbrook, brother of the groom. Following the wedding ceremony, 'a reception was held at the Goderich Township Hall in Holmesville which was decorated with white mums, variegated roses and white carnal-mg:- The arnal- g:`The . bride's mother greeted guests wearing an ivory crepe georgette dress featuring a slim fitting sheath with a formal length tabard topper, faggoting on the' bodice, down the sides and at the bottom of the hemline and slim fitted sleeves , also'flnished 'with a band of the same faggoting. She also wore a corsage of pink- roses, stephanotis and baby's breath. The groom's mother wore a two-piece sheer georgette gown of daphine rose color and a corsage of pink roses, stephanotis and baby's breath i,h-,For a Carribean cruise out of Miami, the bride chose a multi stripe summer dress with white background. featuring the new ac- centuated puff sleeves, fitted bodice and full caif=length skirt. • Mr. and Mrs. Mark Westbrook will reside - .at R.R. 2 Clinton. Prior to her wedding, the bride was feted at a'luncheon shower held by Mrs. Georgia Schaefer at the Maitland Country Club; a shower at the home of Mrs. Marj Young hosted by Mrs. Young and Mrs. Emily Crew; a dessert shower held at the home of Mrs. Bushell, aunt of the groom; and a com- munity shower held by the Goderich Township ladies who presented the bride with a brass tri -light lamp.
