In the first game it was the Port Albert Pirates who edged the Goderieh Bears 6-5. In another seesaw battle the Goderich Oldtimers had just a little too much power for the Boys from Bervie, winning 7-5. On Saturday morning the early`8 a.m., start agreed with Carlow as they defeated' Goderieh Restaurant 6-3. Used Appliances of London were just too powerful as they experienced no problems defeating the Goderich Elevators 17-7. Used Appliances of London captured the `A-' championship by defeating the Port Albeit Pirates n n TY. It was a most successful tournament. The weather was good anda rain shower Sunday afternoon helped to settle the dust and gave the players an opportunity to plan their strategy. Unfortunately someone has to lose. The Port Albert Pirates who reached the finals had to yield to the Used Appliance team from London 9-7. The Used Applinace team throughout the series -exibited on -excellent -degree -of -discipline- on the field which made them worthy champions. The Peter Doherty Trophy for the most sportsmanship player in the tournament was won by Mike Cresswell from Used Appliances., Peter, an 18 year old resident of the village, made the presentation. Although confined to a : wheelchair; Peter takes deep interest in local sporting events, and for several years had been a. member of the Carlow team. Warm humid weather seemed to agree with the softball players and brought out the best in them. It was the Port Albert Bulldogs 2, Wingham 1; I3ookies of W renau N, Milers of -G derith J; Goderich Renegades 14, End of the 12th 4; Lanesville Lords 9, Cedar Lodge 6. The sixth inning was the big inning for the Lords when they scored five rants, to win over Cedar Lodge by a comfortable margin. On Sunday, Kingsbridge . had little trouble coasting to a 15-2 victory over the Stickers, while the Bears trounced the -Renegades 13-2. In a tension flied game, the Port Albert Pirates edged Lanesville 8-7.
