It is a beautiful building and was completed last fall, by Jim Martin, general contractor. Mrs. Robert Irvin spent a few• days visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stirling and family at Thamesville last week. •On Saturday she at- tended the wedding of her nephew and Wendy Fitz - Henry. at Kitchener. Mr. and Mrs. Graham McNee were at the cottage at Cedar Grove on Sunday to help little granddaughter, Alanna, celebrate her second birthday. Gramma and Grampa Finnigan of Goder- ich were also present. Alan- na is the daughter of Allan and Sandra McNee of Lon- don. Roy Ashton of Goderich and his sister, Mrs. Florence O'Neill of London visited with Elmer and Gail Cook and Kevin on Sunday. The meditation given by- Bessie was on the theme, Gladness, and her reading was, Will Abundance Bring Gladness? Willetta McWhinney from Nile U.C.W. had a coinica•1 reading entitled, Those Valu- able Coupons. Seven ladies from Dungan- non U.C.W. _accompanied by Jean Elliott, sang two beau- tiful renditions, Why Me? and, How Great Thou Art. The guest speaker, Judy McMichael, who lives in Dungannon and operates a health food store in Goder- ich,, spoke on her many, products and their purpose in our diets for good health. Judy was. introducedby Tinie Logtenberg and thanked by Elsie Irvin. Mr. Cowan led in a lively sing song, followed by a reading by Beth McConnell. Bessie McNee had a contest, College Entrance Exam, with prizes to follow. Nora Saunders of Dungan- non U.C.W. read a very fitting address and Willetta McWhinney of Nile U.C.W. presented George and Doris Cowan with a lovely croch- eted afghan and two match - t, A ribbon cutting ceremony officially opened the hew office building of the West Wawanosh Mutual Insurance Company at an open house on June 18. The meeting closed with a social time and lunch was served by Helen Dawson, Doris Culbert, Beth McCon- nell, Cora Sherwood and Donna Alton. Brookside Broadcast On Thursday, June 17, Brookside hosted a two pitch softball tournament. Victor- ia, Robertson, Holmesville, Colborne and Brookside schools participated -in a total of 32 games. Jr. girls: Brookside and Holmesville were tied for top spot. 0• Brookside edged Holmes- ville on counting runs for minus runs against. Holmes- ville received the consolation pennant. 'Junior • boys: Robertson and Colborne were tied for points. Robertson had defeated Colborne in the game in which they playedtogether, thus giving the champion- ship to Robertson with Col- borne picking up the conso- lation. Senior girls: Brookside and Robertson were tied after the day's competition. After totalling runs for minus runs against, Brook- side girls were declared -the winners while Robertson re- ceived the consolation. Senior boys: Robertson captured the championship with a perfect record while Holmesville edged Brookside for the consolation. On Thursday afternoon, a swimming pool presentation. was put on- by Anne Alton, Patty Barger, Jackie Dalton and others. They presented skits and songs 'promoting pool safety. The official opening for the creative playground equip- ment at l rookside School was held in the gym on Friday morning with stud- ents and members of the community, in attendance'. Calf Club studies pig .operation The second meeting of the Dungannon Calf Club was held at Wayne . Millian's home, R.R. 5 Goderich, on Tuesday, June 15. The meeting was called order at 8:30 p.m. The pledge was repeated and the secretary, Linda Van Osch, read the minutes of the last meeting. Roll call showed one member•., absent. Kevin Smith gave the treasurer's report. Judging competition results as well as prizes were handed out." Membership cards, United Breeders folders and club schedules were also handed out. • The meeting was turned over to Wayne Milian who then explained his swine operation. Members took a tour of the pig finishing barn. After the tour, questions were asked about the operation and facilities . and Wayne was thanked for having the meeting.
