The story of Goderich
Harbour is undoubtedly an
interesting one and one that
the waterfront committee of
council feels should be told
through stories and pictures
in a special booklet.
At a regular council
meeting Monday, waterfront
chairman Elsa Haydon
asked that commissioner of
works Ken Hunter in-
vestigate the possibility of
securing Wintario grantsto
produce a booklet on the
history of the harbour.
The waterfrontcommittee
believes the harbour is of
great importance in local
and extended, affairs, and
that a booklet inlcuding the
history and present day
activities of the area should
be produced. Both Domtar
and Goderich Elevators will
be approached to produce
stories relating to their
history and activity and the
booklet is expected to con-
tain personal memories,
hisorical facts and pictures.
On a related theme, the
waterfront committee has
announced that the official
opening of the marine
museum at the beach will
take place Sunday, July 11 at
3 p.m. The museum is
contained in a former
freighter wheelhouse that
was donated by- Goderich
Elevators Ltd.
