A Carnival Chair- man is needed. • The Goderich Figure Skating Club had a very suc- cessful 1981-82 season. Many skaters did very well at com- petitions during the year. Debbie Horton made it to the Canadians in the novice dance category with her partner Curtis Moore of Wingham. The club is very proud of Debbie_ The Club also had a very successful carnival this year. It is hoped the club will be able to continue the good work in the coming year. Some skaters attended Spring skating school•, In Wingham. The 'teats- paIied were: Jackie Crawford = %W- ing dance, Lipa Fisher.' - tango dance; Emma' Holl- ingworth - canasta dance; Devin Horton m 14 step dance; John Broden - first figure; Melissa Braden first figure; Roxanne Warr ten fox dance; Nancy Woodard - European and 14 step dances. going to sullener skating schools in Toronto, London, Windsor, Chatham and Cam bridge. They are wished well. The club is sorry to be los- ing its professional coach, Rick Pettit. Rick and his wife. Debbie are going to Min Flon, Manitoba to teach at the Skating Club there. They are wished the best in their new.club. Maitland has a busy week BY IRLA STEWART It was a busy week at the Maitland. On Monday, June 7th, 38 men played in Men's Night, some barely finishing as a thunder storm brewed. The winners were Tony Bedard and Bob Sproule, with Dave Brereton and Steve Durst tying for third. There were two special prizes given - one for closest to the pin on Hole No. 1, and the other for closest to the pin on the second shot on Hole No. 5. Tony Bedard won the first one, with Don MacEwan only inches from the pin on Hole No. 5. On Tuesday, June 8th, the Weather was perfect as 27 golfers turned out for excellent condition Ladies' Night. First Flight scores came in. Marie Huff won the trophy, with Della Bedalyd a very close runner up. Other winners were First Flight - Maxine Martin and Verna Kane; Second Flight - Joan McDougall and Marilyn Cornish; Third Flight - Irla Stewart and Joyce Shack. After playing 18 holes, the players were more than ready for the. delicious salad plate and strawberry shortcake serv- ed by Kim ... a great finish to a challenging day. Don't forget started - all members welcome - some on Friday afternoons, some on Sunday afternoons. Pick up a schedule in the pro shop and come out when you can. It's great fun. On Sunday, June 13th (the first 2 -Ball of the season) the winners were John Kane and Manlyn'Cor- nish. Next Friday, June 18th is the Spring Swing dinner and dance. See you all there. Golf course in winners were. Della Bedard and Maxine- Martin, with putting won by Verna Kane. Second. Flight was won by -Janet Gemmill, With Jean Knight coming in second, and putting won by Grace Neville. Third Flight win- • ners were Marilyn Cornish and Chris Hoffmeyer, with best .putter Bertha McGee. • Fourth flight winners were Iria Stewart, Eileen Beauchemin, and Auleen Curry, with putting won by Joanne Jasper.
