Sportsfest planned.
On August 13, 14 and 15th,
the furniture town of
Hanover will be hosting the
1982 version of the Lake
. Huron __Zone Recreation
Association's Sportsfest. Im-
plemented in 1976. Sportsfest
has become an annual event
growing steadily in both
events offered and par-
ticipants 'involved. Last sum-
mer in Owen Sound. Sport-
sfest attracted over 2,500
participants from the coun-
ties of Grey, Bruce, Huron,
Perth and Wellington.
Sportsfest can best be
described as a weekend of
fun and low-key competition
with the emphasis being
placed on pa rti ation.

nuinely geared to t s with
low and medium skill levels.
Through sportsfest the

hopes to promote
Sports and 'recreation in an
attempt to encourage
physical and social involve-
ment and the development of
new sports within the com-
munities of the association.
The list Of planned ac-
tivities includes: 'Ladies
Slowpitch and softball, T -
ball, Girl's Softball, Soccer,
Shuffleboard, Euchre, Ten-
ni, Darts, Men's Ball
Hockey, Ice Hockey and
Slowpitch, and a fun run.
Hanover will introduce
'Grass Volleyball and Bad-
minton as new events in this
Year's Sportsfest.
Entries are now open for
all events, but registration is
limited so plan to get involv-
ed today.
Application forms are
available at the Recreation
Office in Goderich.

wins
Ross Pederson of Medicine
Hat, Alberta overcame four
crashes and competitors
from nine provinces and four
states to take home the
checkered flag on Sunday,
May 30 at Hully Gully.
Over 3,000 spectators were
on their feet to watch the
lead change five times on the
gruelling mud -laden Hully
Gully course. Pederson
_ fought, off charges from
Michigan rider Phil Cromp-
ton, and Cambridge hot -
shoe, Rob Hodgson to grab
the lion's share of the $5,000
Suzuki purse.
Pederson, the No. 1 rider
in Canada, also showed his
dominance as he roosted by
his competitors to win the
CKNX-sponsored 125 Sup-
port Class. Results are as
