He was born in Claremont,
Ontario to George Henry and
Mildred May (Scott) Semis.
He married Edith Jewell
in Toronto in 1947. They lived
in Brussels for one year,
moving to Goderich in 1948
and retiring to Colborne
Township in 1975.
The late Mr. Samis owned
and operated the Brussels
Creamery and Egg Grading
Station, then took over the
Pontiac dealership in
Goderich, from which he
retired. lie also owned -
standard bred horses.
He was a member.of Knox
Presbyterian Church,
Goderich.
He is survived by his wife;
six daughters, Mrs. Hugh

Well-known in this area,
John Donald 'Don' Bannon,
age 56, of 463 Indian Road,
Windsor, died on Saturday,
March 13. His maternal
grandmother, the late Mrs.
Simon McDonald of St.
Marys, was the former Rose
McCann_�o�f West Wawanosh
Townslfai.
Don was an employee of
the City of Windsor Social
Services and was a member
of Windsor Knights . of
Columbus Council 1453.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Mary .Isobel
Smith and one daughter,
Maryanne; also by his
parents, Joseph and Anne
Bannon of Windsor and the
following brothers and
sisters: Mrs. Jay Dee
Fontaine (Rosemary) of
Windsor; Eugene J. of East
Amherst, New York;
Thomas of Windsor; Mrs.
Fred Quenneville (Barbara)
of St. Clair Beach; Larry of
Sandwich West; Mrs. Larry
Hilt (Jo -Anne) of Windsor
and Mrs. Tom Clemenson
(Sharon) of, Aylmer and
many nieces and nephews.
He is a nephew of Father S.
J. McDonald of Simcoe.

He was the son of the late

Kingsbridge. His mother
was the former Annie
McCann of West Wawanosh,
a victim of the flu epidemic

The deceased was a long-
time and highly regarded
employee of the Dodge
Truck Plant on Mound Road
In Warren, Michigan.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Josephine Van
Maele to whom he was
married in 1929. The couple
celebrated their golden
wedding anniversary in 1979.
Also surviving are two sons:
James L. of Phoenix,
Arizona and Donald J. of
Warren; Michigan two
daughters, Mrs. Salvatore
Canepa (Rheta) of Phoenix,
Arizona and Mrs. James
Gr.obbel. (Shirley) of
Warren, Michigan; two
sisters, Mrs. Albert Sutter
(Violet) of East Detroit and
Mrs. Pat Murphy (Irene) of
Stratford; and one brother,
Cyril, of Kingsbridge.
Besides his parents, he
was predeceased by two
brothers, Frank in 1977 and
Vincent in 1925; and one
sister, Mrs. Leo Corriveau
(Mary) of Goderlch in 1979.
Two brothers died in in-
fancy, Joseph and Michael.
The funeral mass took
place at St. Clement's
Church, Center Line on
Monday, April 19 with burial
in St. Clement's Cemetery.
Pallbearers were gran-
dsons of the deceased.
Relatives attending the
funeral were Mr. and Mrs.
Cyril Austin, John Austin
and ' Mrs. Jos. Courtney
(Teresa Austin) of
Kingsbridge and Eldon
Austin of Dungannon.

William J. Free of 85
Montreal Street, Goderlch
died in Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital on
Sunday, June 6 at the age of
72.
He was born in Toronto on
November 10, 1909 to James
Fletcher and Lillian
(Dewsbury) Free.
As a young man he served
as a seaman on the Great
Lakes prior to working for 43
years with Moloney Electric
in Toronto and then at H.J.
Porter )✓lectric in Woodstock
until retiring in 1974.
He married Emma H.
Forth in Toronto and
following their marriage,
they lived in Mississauga
and Woodstock until moving
to Goderlch.
The late Mr. Free was an
adherent of North Street
United Church.
He was predeceased by his
wife on Januar714,1982.
He is _ s_urv_ ived by . six
children, Mrs. Sidney
(Marjorie) 'Stadig of
Columbia, Md., Mrs. R.
Graham.(Merel) MacDonald
of Goderich. Calvin
Trumbell of Pt. Hardy, B.C.,
Mrs. Ralph (Verna) Bardoff
and Mrs. Edward (Shirlie)
Riall, both of Toronto and
Robert Free of Milton; one
sister, Mrs. Annie Baker of
Wingham; 15 grandchildren;
and eight great grand-
children.
A funeral service was held
at Stiles Funeral Home in
Goderlch on Wednesday,
June 9 at 2 ' p.m. The
Reverend Robert 0. Ball
officiated.
Interment was in the
Maitland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mel
Belford, Guy Roy and
Timmy and Barry Bardoff.
Honorary bearers were
Marty Bardoff and Michael
Riall.

Mrs. Ila Trow, a former
Goderich resident, died in
Ottawa Saturday, June 5.
She was 90.
Ila Mary Trow (nee Allen)
was born the daughter of
Benjamin Allen and Olive
Walters of Goderich. She
was the wife of the late Rolph
Trow of Stratford.
She is survived by, four
children; Mrs. Blair Seaborn
(Carol) of Ottawa; Mrs.
Norman (Virginia) Ings of
London, england; James
Allen of Chatham; and
Benjamin, Mr. and Mrs.
Daniel Dohny (merlon) of
Montreal. She is also sur-
vived by six granchildren
and one sister, Mrs. Cassius
(Olive) McCormick Allen of
Muncie, Indiana.
Funeral service was held
in st. James Anglican
Church, Stratford, Tuesday.

LLOYD REDER
Cameron Lloyd Reder of
Bayfield died in Bayfield on
Saturday, May 29 as the
Ashfield
result of a motorcycle ac-
cident at the age of 27.
He was born in Goderlch
on November 18, 1954 to Jake
and Elsie (Schllbe) Reder.
He attended Hohnesville
Public School and Clinton
High School and was em-
ployed by Tom Penhale.
He was a member of the
Bayfield Fire Department
and St. Peter's Lutheran
Church, Zurich.
He married Darlene
Warner in Zurich on Sep-
tember 25, 1976: She survives
him.
Also surviving him is one
daughter, Brooke at home;
his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Jake Reder of R.R. 1
Bayfield; his maternal
grandmother, Mrs. Emma
chilbe of Zurich; two
sisters, Mrs. Murray (Janet)
McEwan of Bothwell and
Mrs. Eric (Sharon) Chuter of
Varna; and one brother,
Ronald of R.R. 1 Bayfield..
A funeral service was held
at McCallum Funeral Home
in Goderich on Tuesday,
June 1 at 2 p.m. Pastor Jack
Dressler officiated.
Interment was in the
Bayfield Cemetery
Pallbearers were Don
Mcllwain, Stu Turner, Don
Vanderhaar, Phil Reder,
John Schilbe and Rob Rath -
well.
Flower bearers were Jeff
Chuter, Kevin McEwan,
Steve Denomme and Gord
Cumming.
The Bayfield Fire
Department formed an
honor guard at the funeral.
Relatives and friends from
a distance who attended the
funeral came from
Leamington, Mt. Forest,
Trenton, Bothwell, Stayner,
Baden, Kitchener, Cam-
bridge and Thamesville.
