players. Council turned this
matter over to the recreation
committee.
Simon Van Driel was
present to explain a sports
day to be held on July 10 and
discuss the possibility of
closing a portion of roadway
during the sports program.
Council agreed to the request
but explained that the
matter was under the
supervision off the road
superintendent.
By-law number 7, 1982, a
by -lata to authorize the sale
of Block °A' of Plan 561, was
given three readings -and
passed.
By-law number 8, 1982, a
by-law setting the rates of
taxation for 1982 and the
manner of collecting taxes,
was given three readings
and passed.
Building permits were
issued to Endre and D.
Kokavecz for a house ad-
dition on lot 12A, Plan , 13;
Ken Harris fora sun deck on
lot 21, concession 11; K. Van
Den Heuvel for a small cabin
on lot 10, concession 2; K.
Van Den Heuvel for a
manure tank on lots 8, 9 and
10, concessions 4 and 5; and
Murray Ragin for a sun
porch on lot 10A, Plan 13.
Approval of a building
permit for the Ministry of
Community and Social
Services to build a barn on
Id 13 and 14, concession 1
(Bluewater Centre) was held
pending receipt .of a cer-
tificate of compliance.
As a result of a query by
the OMB regarding the set
back of certain lots for the
proposed Kelly subdivision,
it was moved by council that
the Ministry of Environment i
establish the amount of set'
back which they will require
so that the figures can be
used in preparing an
amending by-law.
Tile drain loans were
approved for the following
people, subject to the
availability of funds: Wayne
Elliott -$4,020 on lot 18,
concession 8; G.H.' Stirling -
$4,020 on lot 38, concession 6;
Clayton Ellis -$3;120 on lot 15;
and Peter Van Driel-$2,530
on lot 18, concession 6.
Council then adjourned
until June 7.

Bruce Kidd, once... a sew
sation on • the international
track scene and now author
of books for young people
will give a reading of his
work as part of the fun at
Huron County's biggest used
book sale Saturday and
Sunday, June 5 and 6 at Blyth
Memorial Hall.
A gold and bronze medal
winner in the 1962 Com-
monwealth Games and
member of the 1964
Canadian Olympic team,
Mr. Kidd is now Associate
Professor in the Physical
Education Department of
the University of Toronto
and writes widely for
publications from the
Toronto Star and Globe and
Mail to the CBC.
He has produced three
books for young audiences on
a sporting theme: Hockey
Showdown, Who's a Soccer
Player and Toib Longboat
and will read e*cerpts at 2
p.m. on Saturday.
The book sale. sponsored
by the board of Directors of
the Blyth Centre fdr the Arts.
has become so popular over'
the last three years that this
year it has been extended to
Sunday as well as the normal
Saturday. Thousands of
books. donated from far and
wide will be sold at bargain
prices. Paperback fiction.
for instance. will be sold five
books for $1 while hardcover
fiction sells three for$1. Non-
fiction. mysteries and
science fiction will be 50
cents each and children's
books will be 25 cents
As well as book bargains.
tours of '.Memorial Hall will
be given and there will be
delicious home -baked goods
on sale. A refreshment
counter i_s also available.
The sale will be open
Saturday from t( a m to 6
p.m. and Sunday from t to 5
b.m.
