Fishing News
They bite for some, others
they despise. In a recent ia-
terview with several
fishermen at Port Albert, it
was revealed that the sport
can be exciting or one of
gloom.
John Harris and Steve
Keil; from Paris had fished
in Meaford, Durham, Owen
Sound and Port Albert
without much success. It
was part of a week's vaca-
tion and it seemed apparent
that they would return home
early, with a feeling of being
rejected.
Tom Hummel, a Mitchell
police officer, was not hav-
ing too much success when
interviewed. No doubt he has
more success in catching
law breakers.
Joe Kutrucz and Brian
Holloway from Woodstock,
who arrived at Port Albert
on Thursday at 1 a.m., com-
menced fishing at 5 a.m. and
were rewarded each with a

The sea guars nave nail a
busy time at Port Albert this
week where the river meets
Lake Huron. The gulls have
been busy feeding on a.small
fish called Alewives. They
are a forage food living in
the deep cold waters and are
eaten by salmon and the
Rainbow trout. Usually at
this season of the year, they
move into the warmer water
to spawn and die. It's during
this process that the gulls
use them as food.
Conservation Officer Roy
Bellinger reports that the
fish ladder at Port Albert
has now been closed until the
fall. Rainbow ,tagged last
year were 859. So far this
year, 809 have been tagged.
Bellinger expects to tag
many more this year than
last year.
