When a person stops to think
That if sewage goes down the
storm sewers
It's the same water we have
to drink.
My home down on Hincks St.
Has a beautiful smell today
And when I asked for some
hap -
The town fathers said "No
way".
I guess the proper procedure
Is to write down to Queens
Park
And open the doors to the
environment people
Who seem to live in the dark.
And please don't tell me they
are ignorant
To the fact that Goderich's
poor
When the "Prettiest Town in
Goderich"
Can't afford a proper sewer.
So I'll be left to foot the bill
And try to salvage my rugs.
And I'll have to clean the
town mess
That really boils my blood.
So Mr. Mayor if your sewers
back up
And sewage gets in your rec
room
Just give me a yell and I'll
run like II—
And show you how to use
your broom:
P.S. - I find it very difficult to
,understand how these
problerastan exist when we
haveso many beautiful
parks and tax money to
royally treat visitors and
tourists. Please show your
support when we again
present this problem to
council on June7.

However, with the radicals

Dear Editor;
The Prime Minister of Bri-
tain, Margaret Thatcher,
definitely has her own style,
with plenty of pizazz for a .
middle-aged lady. These
,Margarets all seem to be go-
ing concerns. I was just
wondering if the Opposition
in Ottawa could arrange to
borrow her for awhile to •
stimulate some action in Ot-
tawa. •
The women have been ac-
cused of talking a lot. I
believe this is a fallacy. If,
you compared them with the
men, it would be a split deci-
sion as to who does the most
tacking. •
Our P.M. had a Margaret,
but he finally withdrew
because he couldn't stand
the pace. We have one

good for Parliament more
would be better.
The defence of Canada is
in much the same condition
as the Falklands were, dur-
ing the invasion of the
Argentines.
They have advertisements
for recruits to the armed ser-
vices, but if I was con-
templating
orntemplating military enlist-
ment; I would ask them to
send my military pay to my
home address because' I
believe I could play soldier,

just.as well, as doing it away
from home, considering the
equipment they have for
training.

with organizations such as
yours that help to make
these programs possible.

No new

The Editor:
Although the much
belabored task of defining
the Canadian identity is a
diverse undertaking, Dave
Sykes' editorial, 26 May 1982,
fails to tcast any new light on
the subject.
Most Canadians would
balk • at . the editor's
suggeStion that we are
simple outgrowths of the
inarticulate manner of the
Mackenzie Brothers. The
editorial then becomes ironic
as. the editor qualifies Abe
idea that we are like Bob and
Doug when he cites Canada
• as being a "melting pot of
the nations of the world".
Canada, as common
knowledge will verify, is far
from a melting pot, as is the,
case with the United. States,
and remains a cultural
mosaic: a country where
many 'cultures. can retain
their customs and traditions,
and be proud of .being
Canadian at the same time.
. The editor's vague ac-
creditation. Of source in-
formation is also frustrating,
.who was the author of the
study referred to in your
article? Was he from Yale
University?
In the end, the editorial
stands, or slumps, as a weak,
lazy, and sometimes in-
correct
ncorrect reiteration of other
people's opinions, Is the
Canadian people not
deserving more?
Sincerely,
Joel P. Rochon Jr.,
Sunset Beach,
Goderich.
