Council revises meeting dates
Goderich town council has
revised meeting dates for the
months of June, July and
August..
In. June, ,regular town,
council meetings will be held
Monday, June 7and Monday,
June 21. On Monday, June 14
council will hold a special
meeting with members of
the Public Utilities Com-
mission concerning several
outstanding matters, in-
cluding the cominission's
takeover of the water

Bob Rae to visit
county June 11
Bob Rae, Leader of the On-
tario NDP, will be visiting \
Huron and Bruce Counties
on Friday, June 11. Rae is
touring many parts of the
Province as part of the
NDP's spring survey and
new member drive.
Huron -Bruce NDP Presi-
dent, Tony McQuail, said
that Rae will -6e appearing
on the program "Open Line"
Friday morning on CKNX
FM. Rae will then speak at a
pitch -in picnic held on the
McQuall farm near
Lucknow. McQuail said the
public is invited to come to
the picnic and meet Rae. He
said the pitch -in picnic was
chosen because it involves
sharing and the recognition
that there is no "free lunch".
Following the picnic Rae
will stop in Kincardine, Port
Elgin and Southampton. He
will be speaking at a supper
meeting in Owen Sound.
Get 20 year jewels
Goderich. Rebekah Lodge
No. 89 held its regular
meeting on May 18 at
MacKay Centre with a good
attendance.
By recommendation of the -
jewel committee of Sisters
Irene Harnack, Della
Johnston and Anna Blundell,
20 year jewels were
presented to Sisters Vera
Larder and Hilda Inglis by
Sister Grace Fuller D.D.P.
Ethel Green of Sarnia was
also eligible but was unable
to attend. • ,
Those having numerals
changed were Sisters Mary
Holmes, Amy Cooper,
Dorothy Barker, Gladys
Evans, Lenore Bradley and
Elizabeth Sitter. Congratula-
tions were extended to the
honoured sisters following
the presentation.
A birthday cake was
presented by the Past Noble
Grands as this was the 73rd
anniversary of the' Lodge.
Sister Gertrude Kaitting, the
first president of the Past
Noble Grands, cut the cake.
Sentence is wrong
There was a mistake in the
story on page 2 of last week's
paper concerning the
ALERT machine now being
used by local pollee.
The story stated that
police can conduct a search
of all persons in a vehicle
without a warrant, under
section 48 and 56 of the High-
way Traffic Act This sen-
tence should have read
'under section 48 and 56 of
the Liquor Licence Act'.
Our apologies for any
confusion. this misleading
information may have
caused.
