Pederson to race Professional motorcycle racing comes to Western Ontario this Sunday, May 30 with the "Suzuki Pro Challenge" of Motocross at Hully Gully. The Challenge will feature top U.S. and Canadian riders against Canada's number one motocross rider, Ross Pederson. Pederson, sponsored by Suzuki Canada, is the first Canadian to ever sign a professional motocross contract, which is rumoured in excess of $75,000. Ross, yying for his third straight Canadian championship, is destined to be the first Canadian in the winner's circle of international motocross. Bears continue unbeaten str = ak BY BRUCE BAKER In 'A' division play of the Goderich Men's Slowpitch League last week, the Bears continued their unbeaten ways by defeating Port Albert Bulldogs with a score of 7-5. Early in the game it looked as though it would be another Y nevi.- 3 •-.1:a't: _: t. ., lldogs_,-. displayed a lot of heart Tri fighting back to tie the score at five apiece in the ,sixth. The bad Bear bats would not be denied though as Duncan and Kloepher hit safely and eventually scored in the seventh to seal the win. The week was not a loss for the Bulldogs though as they took advantage of fielding errors early in the game to down Goderich Restaurant by a score of 12-5. The Oldtimers, an early season surprise, jumped into . a three-way tie by edging the Coyotes 5-1 and hammering Carlow 19-4. In other 'A' action, the Optimists defeated Carlow by a score of 11-7 while losing 9-8 a day earlier to the Coyotes. Al Smith from the Goderich Restaurant set a team record with two home runs in one inning en route to a 26-10 victory over Garb and Gear. 'B' division seems to be the closer race this year as the new team Cedar Lodge, under the direction of Tim Frawley, proved to be a contender with two wins and one loss this week, jumping from sixth to third place. WHEREAS by virtue of the provisions contained in The Public Utilities Act, R.S.A. 1570. Chapter 390, Section 12, a municipal corporation may pass by-laws for regulating, among other things, the time, manner, extent and nature of the supply by the works, the building or person to which and to whom water shall be furnished and every other matter or thing related to or connected therewith In order to secure to the inhabitan- ts of the municipality o continued and abundant supply of pure and wholesome water; AND WHEREAS pursuant to Section 41, Sub -section 1 of the said Act, where a com- mission has been established, all the powers, rights, authorities and privileges that • are by the Act conferred on a municipal corporation shall be exercised by the atm - mission; AND WHEREAS it is deemed desirable to regulate the hours and conditions under which water shall be supplied for the purpose of watering lawns and other areas within the Town of Goderich and to provide for offances for contravention of such regulations; NOW THEREFORE The Public Utilities Commission of the Town of Goderich enacts as follows: 1 (a) No person being the owner or tenant or occupant of property shall permit water from the municipal water system to be used for the purposes of washing. watering or irrigating any lawn, garden, landscaped area, asphalt area, concrete area. or any other area of such property; (b) No person having the apparent care and control of property shall permit water from the municipal water system to be used for the purposes of washing, watering or irrigating any lawn, garden, landscaped area, asphalt area, concrete area, or any other area of such property; (c) For the purposes of section 1(a), "owner' shall be deemed to include persons who are shown as such on the then current assessment rolls for the Town of Goderich, or persons who are the registered owners of property as disclosed in the records of the Land Registry Office. 2.. This by-law shall be deemed not to prohibit the otherwise lawful use, of water from the municipal water system during the months of January to May, both Inclusive. and October to December both inclusive in any calendar year. 3. During the months of June, July; August and September in any year, this by-law shall be deemed not to prohibit the otherwise lawful use of water from the municipal water system as follows: (a) Water may be used for all lawful purposes with respect to properties which lie en- tirely to the east of on imaginary lino drawn from the intersection of the centro line of North Street with the northerly boundary of the Town of Goderich; thence southerly along the centre line of North Street to its Intersection with Court House Square; thence southerly along the southerly production of the centro line of North Street of its intersection with the northerly point of the centre line of South street; thence southerly along the centre line of South Street to its intersection. with the southerly boundary of the Town of Goderich, but only during the hours of 6 p.m. toll p.m. local time Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 4 a.m. to 11 a.m. local time Sunday 1n each week; (b) Water may be used for all lawful purposes with respect to properties which ile en- tirely to the west of the imaginary line described in section 3 (a) but only during the hours of 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. local time Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and 0 o.m. to 11 o.mlocal time Sunday in each week. 4. Notwithstanding Section 1 the cammission, or its authorized officer, may be special permit, permit the use of water front the municipal water system for all otherwise lawful purposes on such terms and conditions as the Commission or its authorized of- ficer deems advisable. Each of the Chairman, Vice -Chairman, Manager, and Secretary of the Commission is deemed to be on authorized officer within the meaning of this by-law. Special permits will be in a form similar to ?hot in attached Schedule "A" which forms o part of this by-law. 5. Notwithstanding Sections 2, 3 and 4 of this by-law. in the event of a fire to which the Town of Goderich Fire Department Is called. no person being the owner, tenant, or oc- cypont. or having the apparent care and control of property, upon notification shall permit water from the municipal water system to be used for the purposes o washing, watering or irrigating any lawn, garden, landscaped aria. asphalt area, concrete areo, or any other area of such property. e. This by -low shall be deemed not to apply to The Municipal Corporation of the Town of Goderich. 7. Anyone who contravenes this by -low is guilty of an offence and is liable Gra convic- tion to a fine of not more than 300 dollars. a. Ry -low No- 19 of The Public Utilities Corona:mien of the Town of Goderich passed on the 15th day 04 June. 1471 is hereby repealed save with respect to proceedings which have been commenced under By -taw No. 19 prior to the dote of final passage of this by -low. 9.
