sales
record
Once again Huron Country
Playhouse will set a new
subscription sales record
with still another two months
to continue sales.
Subscription sales of 2,000
to date are soon to exceed
last year's total of 2,651.
To avoid disappointment,
the Theatre is encouraging
subscription holders to ex-
change their vouchers for
the shows and seats of their
. choice as soon as possible.
Individual ticket sales
commenced Monday, May 17
..; so once again, book early.
Building
permits
issued
Seven building permits
were issued when Goderich
Township Council met in
regular session May 3. The
permits went to: Jack
Gilbert to build a meat
cooler on lot 3, Maitland
Concession; Western Auto
Parts to build a gas bar on lot
3, Maitland Concession;
Robert Smith to demolish a
hen house on lot 26, con-
cession 11; William Trick to
build a saw mill shelter on lot
39, Base Line; Ernest
McVittie to install a
swimming pool on lot 13,
Plan 25; Donald Edward to
install a swimming pool on
lot 9, Maitland Concession;
and Pat Osborn to enclose a
porch on lot 16, concession 3.
Council authorized the
road superintendent to enter
into negotiations regarding
the purchase of a suitable
parcel of land for a new
township garage.
A motion was passed to
proceed with further
negotiations regarding the
purchase of a drag line at
$39,300. It is intended that a
delegation attend a
demonstration of the drag
line at an early date.
Accounts totalling more
than $130,000 were ordered
paid. These accounts in-
cluded $123,000 for Huron
County Board of Education
taxes and $6,433.19 for road
superintendent Myron,.
Clinton Community Credit
Union requested permission
of council to collect taxes as
a favor to its customers. No
motions were recorded but
the clerk was instructed to
obtain more information
regarding their policies in
collecting and transferring
township taxes.
Requests were received
from the Goderich Ladies'
Legion Auxiliary and the
Goderich Hospital Auxiliary
to hold tag days and canvass
in the township. Council
granted permission.
The OMB requested that
action be taken, as suggested
by the- Ministry of Housing,
to amend by-law 20, 1981, to
establish a set back from the
ravine for certain lots.
Council passed a motion that
an amending by-law will be
passed when the set back is
determined by the Ministry
of the Environment.
Tuckersmith Township
requested a donation from
council towards the upkeep
of the covered pool at
Vanastra. Council decided to
invite a representative from ..
Tuckersmith to attend a
Council meeting with in-
formation on the day care
centre and also the pool.
Harbor Lights Con-
dominium, in letters to B.M.
Ross which were read to
council, indicated
willingness to share in the
cost of certain drainage
works which would be '
necessary In the develop-
ment of the property. The
clerk was instructed to
contact B.M. Ross with the
offer that Mr. P.eever of
Harbor Lights be given
permission to construct the
drain along the road, at his
own expense, but that if he
insists on a sharing basis,
that the township would only
do so by means of a
municipal drain.
The tile drain loan policy
was reviewed as a result of
the new regulations
established by the govern-
ment. The policy adopted by
the township will be the
same as .before, i.e. a
maximum loan of $12,000 to
one owner in one year at 60
per cent of the approved
cost, on a first come first
serve basis. Two ap-
plications for loans were
received: W.G. Lobb for an
expenditure of $11,025 on lots
19 and 20, concession 6; and
Alfons Wick for an ex-
penditure of $3,432 on lot 12,
concession 1. These ap-
plications were approved.
Council then adjourned
until May 17 at 8 p.m.
