Councii approves airport master plan with 7-1 vote - The master plan for the municipal airport was ap- proved by council Monday by a 7-1 vote and will be forwarded to the Ministry of Transportation and Com- munication for approval at that level. The opposing vote on the motion came from councillor Elsa Haydon who claimed the master plan was never presented to council and that no-one, outside of airport committee members, was aware of it. "We haven't seen the master plan, it hasn't come to councll and we are asked to approve it," she said. "I would ask that the matter be tabled while council has a chance to review the plan." The motion to table died for lack of a seconder and the master plan will be sent to the Ministry. 13y way of explanation, reeve Don Wheeler said the GODERICH SIGNAL -STAR, WEDNESDAY, MAY 19, 1982 -PAGE 3 plan is merely a concept u►' proposal that can be changed bya the town at any time. "The plan is a requirement for GILD funds and since the town has wanted to make the airport viable, the BILD program will help achieve that," he said. "The plan is a concept and nothing com- mits the municipality. It's simply a proposal that can be changed.' Councillor Stan Profit reiterated the fact that the plans can be changed at any time and deputy -reeve Allen said the terminal plan is old and that all councillors should be aware of the basic fundamentals. Haydon said that although she has not seen a plan she was not against it. Com- missioner of works Ken Hunter explained there 25 copies of the master plan and nine were distributed to airport committee mem- bers.
