Police commissioners get raise
The Board of Police
Commissioners for the town
of Goderich asked for and
received a 10 per cent in-
crease in honorariums.
At a meeting ofcouncil
Monday, the request for a 10
per ' cent increase was
granted by council. In a
letter to coimcil, commision
secretary, Larry McCabe
indicated commission
members have not received
an increase for six years.
The chairman of the com-
mission received. 8850 per
year and members $750.
Councillor Jim Searls
asked that the request be
denied claiming it should be
held over to the 1983 budget.
"The request should be
turned down because it
would open things up," he
said. "It should be left until
council Completes the 1983
budget."
Mayor Harry Worsell, an
int officio member of the
commission, said the raise
was justified in light of the
• commission's workload and
its part in police wage
negotiations.
