UCW hold Thankoffering
The Benmiller United
Church Women held their
meeting and Thankoffering
at the church on Wednesday,
May 5 with the Benmiller
Unit in charge. There were
15 members present.
Mrs. Hazel McMichael
presided and opened the
meeting with the members
reading Psalm 31 in unison.
Mrs. McMichael then read a
chapter from the Doug
Hammershaw book.
Members joined in, singing
the hymn, "Give Thanks to
the Lord" and the offering
was received by Mrs.
Marjory Treble who also
gave a reading from the
Hammershhaw book.
The three units gave their
reports. The Benmiller Unit
reported they are planning a
strawberry fest, the date to
be announced later. The
Irish Unit reported they had
a white elephant sale in April
and were very pleased With
the results. The' Maitland
Unit reported they were busy
making quilts and were
pleased with the sale of same
and 'have . some ordered
ahead.
Treasurer, Mrs. Clare Ann
Jewil, gave an encouraging
, report and • told members
that the allocation has to be
sent in with an additional gift
of money.
Secretary, Mrs.. Phyllis
Feagan, read the minutes of
the last meeting' and the
correspondence.
• Mrs. Maudie McBride
announced that the Mission
Bales Will be packed at the
church . Monday, May 17.

The UCW will be donating
money for the children's
project in Zeri,Africa.
There will be a Huron -
Perth Presbyterial Rally in
Dungannon Church; Wed-
nesday, October 6.
An invitation was received
from .. Knox United Church,
Auburn to attend their quilt
display on Saturday, May 15.
Mrs. McMichael gave a
reading from the study book
on life's problems and also
gave a reading on the
flowers, trees and hills with
God as the sculptor.
The meeting closed with
the benediction and a social
half hour was enjoyed with
lunch served by the Ben -
miller Unit.
The Maitland Unit will be
in charge of the September
meeting.

Institute meeting will . be

The program will consist of a
make-up demonstration and`
plant sale. Goderich and
Dungannon Women's
Institutes have been invited.

Mrs. Cora Sherwood en-
tertained over the weekend
when her daughter, Mrs.
Gordon Dawson, Mr.
Dawson and children from
Corunna and. son, Ernie
Sherwood, Mrs. Sherwood
and children from Colborne,
joined to observe Mother's
Day. During the weekend,
they visited an aunt, Mrs.
Tilly Gaunt, a patient in
Wingham Hospital and while
there, Deanna and Davina
Dawson sang one of the
songs they had sung at the
Sarnia Music Festival.
Mrs. Beatrice Geiger of
Zurich spend the weekend
with her sister, Mrs. Gordon
Kaitting and Mr. Kaitting.
Students at Colborne Central School rehearse a dance
routine for their musical. Going West, whichis part of the
school's annual Spring concert. The concert will be held this
evening, May 12.
Miller appointed superintendent for special ed
The first principal of
Hullett Central Public
School has been appointed
superintendent of special
education for the Huron
County Board of Education,
effective Aug. 1.
Donald R. Miller comes
here from Picton, where he
has been superintendent of
education with the Prince
